Orientalist scholar, Doctor of Historical Sciences Klara Shaisultanovna Khafizova joined the faculty of the Branch Campus of BLCU at Astana International University.

Professor Khafizova is a recognized expert on the history of international relations and Chinese foreign policy in Central Asia, Kazakh-Chinese relations and Chinese sources on Kazakhs and Dzungars.

Klara Shaisultanovna is also the author of many scientific articles and monographs, including “Chinese Diplomacy in Central Asia. XIV-XIX centuries“, ‘Kazakh’ strategy of the Qing Empire”, “Dialogue of civilizations of Central and East Asia”, “Dialogue of civilizations on the Silk Road”, “Steppe rulers and their diplomacy in XVIII-XIX centuries”.

Today, July 17, 2024, representatives of the World Bank familiarized themselves with the infrastructure of the university, as well as new subject classrooms equipped with modern technology and equipment.

The participants of the meeting discussed the historical path of development of world universities, as well as the recommendations of the World Bank on the development of higher education in Kazakhstan.

Reference: The World Bank Group, which includes 189 member countries and has offices in more than 130 countries, is a unique global partnership of five organizations working on solutions aimed at reducing poverty and ensuring shared prosperity in developing countries.

A group of students and two teachers from Astana International University arrived at the University of International Business and Economics (UIBE, China) on July 11. The arrival of students and teaching staff is associated with participation in the Summer School in Lianyungang from July 15 to July 24, 2024. The first four days in Beijing were very active, the delegation of our university met with Ms. Liu Jinlan - Dean of the Institute of International Education, Mr. Yang - Deputy Dean of the Institute of International Economics and Trade, Ms. Huo Yuan - Deputy Head of the Department of International Cooperation. The meeting was dedicated to discussing further prospects for the development of the double-diploma program «International Business», academic mobility of students and teachers, opportunities for creating a double- diploma master’s program, etc. Students were given a tour of the university buildings and presented with introductory lectures on the topic «Socio-economic development of modern China».

Today in Astana International University (AIU) held a meeting with the deputy of the Majilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Marat Bashimov, a member of the Committee on Legislation and Judicial and Legal Reform of the Majilis of VIII convocation.

People's elected official told the AIU staff in detail about the innovations in the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Thus, were discussed the laws affecting gambling and ludomania, the fight against drugs, ensuring gender balance, child safety and health care.

In general, according to the deputy, during the past session of Parliament was adopted 125 new laws that improve the legal, social and institutional framework of our country.

At the end of the meeting, the importance of the educational and awareness-raising mission of AIU and the need for frequent exchange of views between the academic community and representatives of the legislative bodies of the country were emphasized.

AIU "NaturaLab" scientific laboratory expands its capabilities and reaches new heights. Under the leadership of Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor Anar Myrzagalieva, our team is making significant progress in research and development, to date 1 project of program-targeted funding, 1 project of grant funding and 2 projects Zhas Galym.

Thanks to grants from the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, interdisciplinary research is conducted in the AIU laboratory, close cooperation with leading domestic and foreign scientific institutions is carried out, conditions for professional growth and development of young scientists and students are created.  

From June 24 to July 4, 2024 a group of AIU researchers (Myrzagalieva A.B., Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor; Orazov A.E., PhD; Samarkhanov T.N., PhD; Tustubaeva Sh.T., postdoctoral fellow; Alemseitova J.K., doctoral student; Kauanov S.A., student of the 4th year) together with scientists of Warsaw University, PhD, Professor Malgorzata Suska-Malawska, PhD Marcina Sulwinski, Masters - Piotra Chibowski and Marcina Zegarek; Professor of Wroclaw University, PhD - Cesari Kabala (Poland); Professor of Tottori University, PhD - Ayele Almau Fenta; PhD, Professor of the Center for Dead Sea Studies Ilan Stavi (Israel) conducted studies of biodiversity of the Tarbagatai National Nature Park.  The research was aimed at studying the ecosystems of the park, ecology and distribution of rare and endemic plants of the park, as well as analyzing the current state of biodiversity of the region. 

Interaction with foreign colleagues enriches the AIU scientific school with new methodologies and technologies, strengthens its position in the international scientific community and expands scientific horizons. Joint research contributes to the development of intercultural relations and the formation of a global scientific community in which each participant makes a unique contribution.

The morning of July 3 became a significant day for relations between Kazakhstan and China. The opening ceremony of the branch of Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU) took place in Akorda. This important event was attended by the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and the President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping. The historical connection between Beijing Language and Culture University and Kazakhstan also has personal significance. President Tokayev studied at BLCU 40 years ago. According to Serik Irsaliev, President of AIU, the creation of the BLCU branch is an important symbol of high-quality cooperation between Kazakhstan and China in the field of higher education and science. In the afternoon, the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Sayasat Nurbek and the Minister of Education of the People's Republic of China Huai Jinpeng arrived at the opening ceremony of the BLCU branch. The event was attended by representatives of diplomatic missions, the academic community and students. New modern classrooms were opened, equipped with advanced technologies for effective learning. The BLCU branch at AIU will become an important center for training highly qualified personnel for Kazakhstan and throughout Central Asia, providing students with unique opportunities to study the Chinese language and culture, in addition, the BLCU branch will be certified for knowledge of the Chinese language according to the international HSK (Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi) system. AIU President Serik Irsaliev gave a tour of the new BLCU offices and spoke about the activities of the university, the history of Kazakhstan and demonstrated unique artifacts that can only be seen at AIU. Sayasat Nurbek noted: “Today, during bilateral negotiations, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Kemelevich Tokayev emphasized that cooperation in the field of science and education between the two countries is strengthening.” The opening of the BLCU branch at AIU opens a new chapter in the development of international cooperation in the field of education and culture. We look forward to the successful implementation of all planned projects and strengthening friendly ties between our countries.
