In the 2023-2024 academic year, a cooperation agreement was concluded between Astana International University and Kostanay Regional University named after Akhmet Baitursynuly. In the spring semester of the 2023-2024 academic year, academic exchange of students between universities was carried out for the first time. Thus, 2nd year VSHEN students Asem Isergepova (Ecology and Environmental Management) and Alina Abilova (Biology) are studying at the Kostanay Regional University named after Akhmet Baitursynuly. And environmental students from Kostanay, Karina Dotsenko and Natalya Yablonskaya, are studying at the AMU with a degree in Ecology and Environmental Management.

At the Higher School of Social Sciences and Humanities, scientists from Iran held an exhibition of ancient written manuscripts and a master class in calligraphy.

The events were organized by specialists of the Iranian International Microfilm Center "NUR", with the assistance of the Iranian Embassy in Kazakhstan.

The director of the aforementioned Center, Professor Mehdi Haja Piri, gave a lecture to Kazakhstani students and scientists on the restoration of ancient manuscripts. Professors Hussein Ali Jafariani and Vafadar Moradi presented rare copies of the written heritage.

Professor Hamid Malekiani conducted an exciting master class in calligraphy, in which students actively participated and gained valuable experience, discovering previously unexplored pages of history. The participants of the event also had the opportunity to get to know Iran's historical and cultural heritage better and enrich their knowledge in the field of restoration of valuable historical documents.

А scientific seminar was held at the Higher School of Natural Sciences on the results of the research of master and PhD students for the first semester of the academic year. The purpose of such reporting scientific seminars is the formation of students' competencies necessary for research activities and the development of skills for conducting scientific discussion, correct oral and written presentation of research results. Master student Sultankulov A.M. and PhD students Takirova M.B., Alemseitova Zh.K. and Bolgibaeva A.B. demonstrated a high level of preparation for the seminar, presenting all the materials and results of the work for the reporting period. During the discussion the teaching staff noted all the positive points and gave constructive comments and recommendations. The PhD students noted that the questions, valuable comments and recommendations of teachers contribute to the further development of doctoral students as independent researchers.

On February 7, the Higher School of Social Sciences and Humanities organized a special guest lecture at Astana International University by a public figure, activist, ethnographer, historian, head of the public association "Kara Shanyrak" Shaken Turar Sattarkyzy on the topic "National values - national treasury".

The meeting discussed topical issues of modern society, the education of young people and the importance of reviving the national traditions and customs of the Kazakh people that have existed for centuries.

The activities of the Public Association "Kara Shanyrak" have been of a spiritual and educational nature for several years, multiplying national values. Among the implemented author's projects for young families, national and ethnographic contests “Kazagymnyn kadigi-ai”, the project “Shashbaulym” among students, creative contests among schoolchildren “Alash amanaty-urpak mura”, “El buginshil, meniki yerten ush”, “Ulagatty urpak”, “Saryzhailau”, “Kazak alemi" were held”, “Ana alakany", “Onegeli ata-ana-oreli urpak”, “Balandy kazaksha okyt”, “Yertegi -el yerteni”, visits kindergartens and schools within the framework of these projects, works with communities of young parents, mothers, children, youth. Holds meetings with people who have something to say. The organization works not only in the capital, but also in other cities and regions. In addition, the newspaper "Omby Kazaktary" has a heading "Kara Shanyrak", where information is shared and contact with neighbors is established.

On February 7, 2024, a guest lecture was held for students of the Higher School of Information Technology and Engineering with the participation of the developer of the company TSARKA, Zholai Abdubek, on the topic "Continuous self-improvement in the IT field".

During the lecture, Zholai Abdubek explained what continuous self-improvement is and why it is especially important in the dynamically developing IT sector. He explained the importance of constantly exploring new technologies, programming languages, tools and platforms, and also discussed current trends such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, big data, cybersecurity and how they are transforming the industry. He presented various ways of self-education, including online courses, certification programs, webinars, master classes, as well as books and scientific articles, and also showed how to choose learning resources according to individual interests and goals.

The lecture turned out to be very valuable for students studying programs on "Computer Engineering and software", as well as on "Data Science". These lectures play an important role in shaping students' understanding of their future professional path and help them build the foundations for a successful career in their chosen fields.

The methodological seminar was organized on February the 7th for 2nd year students on Comprehensive educational program: «Integrated Education Program» at the Pedagogical Institute. The entire seminar was an explanation of the Unified Education Program for 2023-2025, developed by the Y. Altynsarin National Academy of Education.

Speakers of the methodological seminar, scientists and specialists of the Y. Altynsarin National Academy of Education on behalf of: Ruslan Karatabanov, Anar Tanirbergenova, and Aizhan Magauiya introduced sophomore students the main ideas of the program. The interest of 2nd year students was aroused by the value-oriente d «Integrative Education Program».

On January 25, the Higher School of Art and Design held a meeting with Aldiyar Kussainov, a graduate of Astana International University for the development of design in Figma based on the PAIDA startup project.

"Successful graduates share their experience" – a new "Face Time" format, a university graduate gave advice on successfully building a career in the field of design and personal growth.

"AIU for me is about professionalism, trust, talents, opportunities. Above all, I appreciate it for the people. What cool classmates I have! I sincerely respect my professors as well, everyone has their own approach to the classroom and material, it's so interesting to get to know everyone. And yes, opportunities. During the year I managed to create a startup project PAIDA. The projects were developed in-house. Now we can hire specialists and tell them how it should be done. I hope now PAIDA will cooperate with VSIID as an employer," says Aldiyar, a graduate in architectural design. He advised students to be more active, to gain knowledge, to undergo practical training and internships, as this can be the basis for building a successful career.

VSIiD aims to develop students' creative skills, which help in their further professional development: As university students, young people can learn to create their own projects in which they could apply the knowledge gained in their specialty. For this purpose, we organize meetings between students and alumni who were able to create their own businesses and careers.

On February 2, 2024, Astana International University hosted a round table on the topic « Elections are a matter for everyone».

The event is dedicated to World Election Day, which this year is celebrated on February 1. The tradition of celebrating World Election Day was approved at the III Global Conference of Election Organizers, held in Budapest in 2005, and falls annually on the first Thursday of February. The decision of the conference opened up new perspectives in recognizing the importance of the work of election organizers and was supported by the United Nations Democracy Fund. According to the idea of the founders, on this day all attention should be paid to the issues of ensuring the electoral rights of citizens and improving electoral processes.

The purpose of the event is to enhance the legal culture of future voters, the formation of young people's knowledge, skills and abilities necessary for the conscious realization of electoral rights.

The round table was attended by the management and teaching staff of the Higher School of Law of Astana International University, representatives of the Central Executive Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the TEC of Astana, doctoral students, students of the AIU.

The opening speech was made by the Deputy dean of the Higher School of Law of Astana International University, Seilkhanov Zhanat Duisenbaevich.

The moderator of the event was Ph.D. in Law, Associate Professor of the Higher School of Law Tusupova Lyazat Kapasovna.

During the round table, a senior lecturer at the Higher School of Law F.M. Abugalieva made a report on the topic «Legal features of the exercise of electoral rights of citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan».

Associate Professor of the Higher School of Law L.K. Amandykova made a report on the topic «Development of the electoral system in the Republic of Kazakhstan».

During the event, Associate Professor of the Higher School of Law E.S. Zhambayev made a report on «Peculiarities of conducting elections using the electronic electoral system in the Republic of Kazakhstan».

In addition, S.G. Kozhakhmetova, a doctoral student at the Higher School of Law, presented her report on the topic «Legal foundations for the application of democratic methods (elections, referendum)» at the round table.

As part of the round table, a business game on the theme of the event was held among the three teams formed from among the students of the Higher School of Law. The teams answered questions on the active participation of citizens in elections and on improving legislation in this area, taking into account advanced foreign experience.

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of South Africa to the Republic of

Kazakhstan, Keitumetsi Seipelo Tandeka Matthews, visited Astana International University.

The speaker delivered a guest lecture on the topic "BRICS: a new geopolitical reality".

During the event, which was attended by students, undergraduates and doctoral students of the Higher School of Social Sciences and Humanities, as well as scientists and experts in the field of international relations, the prospects of Kazakhstan's entry into the BRICS association as a participating state were considered.

In addition, during the meeting with the leadership of AlU, an agreement was reached on the establishment of the BRICS Center at the university, which represents an important step in the field of substantive study of the activities and capabilities of this organization in Kazakhstan.

At the same time, the audience learned with interest about the key areas of cooperation between Kazakhstan and South Africa, including the potential for intercultural enrichment, scientific and educational cooperation and prospects for cooperation in such areas as agriculture, green energy and tourism.

On December 25, 2023, our university was visited by representatives of Iran in Kazakhstan. The result of this meeting was the signed «Memorandum of Cooperation between Astana International University and the representation of the embassy of Islamic Republic of Iran in the Republic of Kazakhstan», concluded between the President of the University S.A. Irsaliev and Advisor Ali Akbar Talebi Matin.

International Astana University (hereinafter - AIU) has won the scientific project GUCAE-Consolidate with the support of the German Ministry of Education and Science under the leadership of the Leibniz Institute for Agricultural Development in Countries in Transition (hereinafter - IAMO). 

The consortium of foreign partners along with Astana International University (AIU) from Central Asia includes: International Agricultural University IAU (Uzbekistan, Tashkent), (TBC), Institute of System Analysis and Development of Agricultural Economics (Tajikistan, TBC) and Ashgabat Agrarian Institute (TBC). 

The main objective of the international project is to develop research skills of PhDs, postdoctoral fellows, young researchers and PhD doctoral students from universities in Central Asia and Germany.

Through the proposed project, the consortium aims to take GUCAE-Consolidate to a new level by addressing pressing issues such as working with advanced econometric methods, mutual exchange and expanding linkages in agricultural and environmental economics. 

A team of scientists and PhD doctoral students from the Higher School of Economics will participate on behalf of AIU.
