On October 11, students of the specialty "Recreational Geography and Tourism" of the Higher School of Natural Sciences of Astana International University visited an orphanage. Earlier, students organized a charity fair within the framework of the Tourism Week -2024. By a majority vote, it was decided to send funds to help children in need. During the visit, the students treated the children to sweets and fruits, bought toys for each child and, in general, gave a lot of sincere positive emotions.

In addition, as part of the social support agreement, 150,000 tenge was transferred to the Otbasy bank deposit for 3 children left without parental care. These funds will help children to purchase their own homes in the future, which will give them confidence in the future.

Giving hope and confidence to children in difficult situations is a common task of society and each of us. Every child deserves happiness, and such initiatives show that together we can make this world a little better!

Environmental students and undergraduates of Astana International University studying the discipline "Wastewater Analysis and Treatment" had a unique opportunity to visit one of the key objects of urban infrastructure - sewage treatment plants of Astana, founded in 1964. These facilities play a vital role in ensuring the environmental safety of the city, treating about 300 thousand cubic meters of wastewater daily.

During the tour, students learned about the technical aspects of the work of wastewater treatment plants and clearly saw how the cleaning process takes place. They got acquainted with the various stages, starting with mechanical cleaning, turning into biological, where microorganisms play a key role, and ending with chemical treatment and ultraviolet disinfection. As a result of this complex process, purified water is discharged into the channels of the Yesil River, contributing to maintaining the ecological balance in the region.

The tour became an important part of the educational process, allowing future ecologists to better understand the principles of wastewater treatment and realize how important this work is to preserve the purity of the environment in a rapidly growing metropolis. Students have gained valuable experience that will help them effectively solve environmental and water management problems in the future.

On October 16, 2024, Astana International University hosted a master class for teachers and doctoral students on the topic "Percentiles of the zhogary journaldarga makala zhazudyn zhane siltemeni koterudin tiimdi adisteri". The speaker was Sambetbaeva Madina Aralbayeva, PhD, Associate Professor and Director of Itech Projects LLP.

The master class aroused great interest among the audience. Madina Aralbayeva shared effective methods of writing scientific articles for journals with a high percentile (Q1, Q2) and described in detail how to bring an article from an idea to publication. The participants learned how to work competently with the comments of reviewers, and also received practical advice on how to promote their research. The speaker revealed life hacks to increase citations — an important skill for every researcher.

This master class has become a valuable experience for all participants who strive to bring their scientific work to the international level and make a significant contribution to world science.

On October 15, students of the educational programs "History and Archaeology", "International Relations", "Translation" and "Psychology" of the Higher School of Arts and Humanities of Astana International University (AIU) visited the memorial complex "ALGIERS", deepening their knowledge about the tragic events of the twentieth century.

The exhibition includes documents, memoirs, letters and newsreels of prisoners of the ALGIERS and KARLAG camps, as well as personal belongings handed over by relatives of the repressed. The museum memorializes the names of more than 8 thousand women out of 18 thousand prisoners who passed through ALGERIA. Among the prisoners were representatives of 62 nationalities, including 87 Kazakhs.

The visitors also got acquainted with the unique objects provided by the son of the leader of the Alash movement Alimkhan Ermekov — Magauia Alimkhanovich. AIU Professor Kanat Saduakovich Oskembayev, who actively participated in the opening of the museum, contributed to the creation of the exhibition.

The ALGIERS complex is not only a memory of the victims of repression, but also an important reminder to future generations of the need to preserve the historical truth and learn from the past in order to prevent the recurrence of such tragedies.

An inspiring meeting with Kazakh blogger, traveler and journalist Orken Kenzhebek took place at the Pedagogical Institute of Astana International University. The initiators of the event were students of the 3rd year of the History program, who chose the topic "Personality and travel".

Orken spoke about how travel affects the formation of personality and expands the worldview. He paid special attention to the role of the historian in the modern world. According to him, a historian is not just a researcher of the past, but a person who is able to see connections between events of different eras, which helps to understand society more deeply.

"A historian is someone who can draw parallels between the past and the present, connect cultures and values," he said.

Speaking about travel, the journalist shared personal stories and explained how getting to know other cultures helps you rethink your own values. "Traveling is not just about moving, it's a way to understand people and yourself more deeply," he said.

On October 14, 2024, a significant event took place in Astana - the grand opening of the academic year at the branch campus of the Beijing University of Language and Culture (Beijing Language and Culture University — BLCU Kazakhstan).

As you know, on July 3 this year in Akorda, within the framework of the State Visit of the President of the People's Republic of China to the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Summit of the Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Astana, in the presence of President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Kemelevich Tokayev and President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping, a branch of the Beijing University of Language and Culture (BLCU) was officially opened.

This opening was an important step in strengthening educational and cultural ties between Kazakhstan and China. 100 students of the Foundation program have already started their studies on October 1 and immersed themselves in an exciting study of the Chinese language and culture under the guidance of highly qualified teachers — the best Chinese language specialists from BLCU and AIU.

Our President Kassym-Jomart Kemelevich Tokayev studied at this prestigious university in 1984-1985, and his story serves as a source of inspiration for current students, opening new horizons for their educational path.

The ceremony was held in the Expo conference hall from 2.3 and included speeches by President of Astana International University Serik Irsaliev, Second Secretary of the Chinese Embassy in Kazakhstan Fan Chao and Vice President of BLCU Zhang Baojun. The BLCU Kazakhstan branch campus already offers two-degree bachelor's degree programs, including simultaneous interpreter specialties in the areas of "Chinese-English", "Chinese-Kazakh", "Chinese-Russian", as well as programs for Chinese language teachers in higher educational institutions of Kazakhstan.

Eco-journalism plays an important role in modern society. Eco-journalists report on environmental events, analyze and contribute to critical consideration of the actions of governments, corporations and organizations, identifying environmental crimes and policy flaws.

Through their materials, they teach the audience the basics of ecology, sustainable development and the importance of protecting nature, create a dialogue platform for discussing environmental issues in society with the involvement of various groups — from local communities to international organizations. Nargiz Kasimova, an expert in the field of eco-journalism, Doctor of Philology, Professor at the Tashkent University of Journalism and Mass Communication, media coach, director of the NGO Ecologist, told environmental students about this today, September 11, 2024.

Environmental students had a unique opportunity to hear interesting and inspiring cases from her practice as an eco-journalist and social activist. It was especially interesting to hear about the professor's project on the impact of climate change on gender-based violence.
