Astana International University is developing cooperation with Shenzhen University and the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.

On October 7th , representatives of Astana International University (AIU) met with a delegation from Shenzhen University. The subject of the conversation was to determine the prospects for future collaboration.

In particular, the parties discussed a number of important issues related to academic exchange, joint research and the development of educational programs. The meeting resulted in the signing of a cooperation agreement, which will become the basis for long-term partnership and knowledge exchange between universities.

The Vice-Rector of Shenzhen University, Mr. Li Yonghua, expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and invited AIU to visit the Chinese university next year for a more detailed study of joint educational programs and scientific research.

AIU representatives also met with the delegation of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. The guests were presented with the results of the scientific activities of the AIU and structural research institutes engaged in research in the field of social sciences and humanities.

CASS experts of the PRC expressed their readiness to implement joint scientific research, including within the framework of projects of the Research Institute of the Asia-Europe Land-Sea Transport Corridor. An agreement was also reached on the preparation of scientific articles and reviews devoted to the main results and outcomes of the so-called “golden thirty years” of Kazakh-Chinese relations.

These meetings highlight the desire of educational institutions to expand international relations and deepen cooperation to enrich the educational experience of students and scientists from both countries. AIU and its partners will continue its work to strengthen academic connections and joint initiatives in the future.

On November 2, 2023, at the Pedagogical Institute of Astana International University in the assembly hall, the first meeting of the Literary Lounge dedicated to the 130th anniversary of the famous Kazakh poet and writer, publicist and public figure Sultanmakhmut Toraigyrov “Poetry is calling us into the distance...” was held. Faculty members of university and students took part in this event and warmly support the speakers. Under the guidance of Associate Professor Abzhakov T.D. and teacher Narmanova R.I. 

1st and 2nd year students prepared a presentation, a video, an expressive reading of S. Toraigyrov’s works, and also recited their own poems. The audience enthusiastically greeted students of various specialties Kabylbek Karakat, Zhaisan Karakat, Aubakirova Zhuldyz, Bolatova Dilyara, Smail Gulfairuz, Orazai Dilyara, Sembaev Ilyas and Kurbanaliev Kenzhebay, who performed soulfully on stage. 

In the Literary Lounge there were also Associate Professor Zh.E. Kuzembaev, who gave a speech on the research of the poet’s work and the creation of the author’s course “Sultanmahmutology”. The Deputy Dean of the Pedagogical Institute S.T. Dyusupova, who congratulated the participants and leaders on the organization and holding of the literary evening. 

At the end of the evening, all students who took an active part in the Literary Lounge were awarded with certificates of the Pedagogical Institute.

From October 30 to November 2, the European Film Festival was held in the capital, organized by the Delegation of the European Union to Kazakhstan. The audience was presented with four films – winners and nominees of the most prestigious international film festivals: “Grandfather’s Demons”, “Ramona”, “My love affair with marriage” and “The naked truth about band Zhiguli”.

As part of the Festival program, on October 31, the movie “The naked truth about band Zhiguli” by Bulgarian director Viktor Bozhinov was shown at the Astana International University (AIU).

The film screening at AIU was presented by the Ambassador of the European Union to Kazakhstan – H.E. Kestutis Jankauskas, the Ambassador of Bulgaria - H.E. Boyan Hadjiev and the Ambassador of Slovakia - H.E. Robert Kirnag as well as the President of AIU - S.A. Irsaliyev.

The movie tells us the lifestory of a talented producer and former member of a famous rock band. According to the plot of the film, the heroes have been presented with the opportunity to revive their former musical glory, but the grandiose idea requires inimitable endurance and forces them to make difficult decisions. Success can only be achieved by making every effort and through decisive action in spite of all difficulties.

The plot of the lyrical-comedy resurrection of a rock band from the 80s of the last century was warmly received by our viewers - teachers, students and guests of the university.

At the end of the film screening, souvenirs from the European Union were raffled off among the participants.

Movies do greatly contribute to cultural exchanges and the development of humanitarian partnerships between countries, expand the horizons of the cinematic audience in Kazakhstan, providing the opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of outstanding works of European cinema.

This year, 30 masters from 12 foreign countries took part in the events: Italy, France, India, Egypt, Japan, Lithuania, Russia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan. More than 60 masters of applied arts from Uzbekistan participated.


“The motto of the IV International Biennale of Applied Arts is “Globalization and the preservation of national traditions: choosing a path” - as a leading idea, it was proposed to consider the problem of preserving the originality of applied art and overcoming the accelerating unification of traditions in the conditions of active globalization of the economy and the dominance of mass culture,” said the curator Biennale Binafsha Nodir.


“At the same time, it is very important to understand that preserving traditions does not mean copying or preserving examples of the past, simplification and primitivization of cultural forms, but serves as the basis for their creative interpretation and innovative development,” she emphasized.


Within the framework of the international biennale, exhibitions of modern Uzbek and foreign decorative art, national ceramics, gold embroidery, jewelry, master classes, presentations, as well as an international scientific and practical conference were held.


Venues include the Central Exhibition Hall of the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan, the International Caravanserai of Culture of Ikuo Hirayama, the Tashkent House of Photography, the Kamoliddin Bekhzod Museum of Oriental Miniature Arts, and the Fine Arts Gallery of Uzbekistan.
