AIU students presented their innovative ideas at the Multilingual Education Symposium held at Nazarbayev University's School of Higher Education

On September 30, 2023, students from Astana International University, specializing in "Foreign Language: Two Foreign Languages," including Ayim Ussenova, Didar Moldazhanov, Ariana Bazylbekova, Adam Ishimgaliyev, Amangeldykyzy Aibanu, Madina Bektursynova, Ayagan Ayazhan, Zharqyn Sunqar, along with Dina Malgazhdarova, a faculty member, showcased exceptional skills and innovative ideas at the Multilingual Education Symposium, held at Graduate School of Education, Nazarbayev University. Aigerim Kazhigaliyeva, a faculty member, actively participated in the symposium as the moderator for the session "Language, Identity, Inclusion, and Ideologies."

This event, dedicated to multilingual education, brought together students, educators, and researchers to discuss contemporary topics and best practices in the field of education. Students from Astana International University played a pivotal role in the symposium by presenting their research projects and innovative ideas.

Professors and scholars at the symposium acknowledged the students for their valuable contributions to the field of multilingual education, recognizing their research and projects as significant steps toward advancing modern educational practices.

AT ASTANA INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED TRAINING OF THE FIRST STREAM OF INCUBATION PROGRAM «AIU BUSINESS INNOVATION»

On September 30, 2023, the first Demo day of the incubation program was held within the walls of the AIU business incubator. 21 teams presented their projects, among them were the projects «Production of innovative eco-fabric from hemp InnoHemp», «Amazonica - production of nutritional supplements for health and well-being», «MURA.KZ Production of decoration, accessories, souvenirs based on the designs of archaeological finds of Kazakhstan», «Adal Food - production of gluten-free products» and others.

The event began with an exhibition of prototypes of participants' products and Welcome coffee. A welcoming speech was made by the President of the Astana International University Irsaliev S.A., chief expert of the Center for Prospective Development of the National Agency for Innovation Development «QazInnovations» Turysova Zh.A., Chairman of the Board of the Association of Entrepreneurs «ERTIS», member of the regional council of the Chamber of Entrepreneurs of Astana Kuniyarov A.E.

Our project was supported by the director of «MedHouseKazakhstan» LLP S.K. Isabaev, deputy director of the «Center for Sustainable Development of the Capital» LLP - Pustovoitenko V.V.

Next, pitching and presentation of projects was carried out in 3 minutes. Based on the results of the teams’ performances, the participants received feedback from the Demo Day guests and trackers. The event ended with the issuance of certificates that give the right to participate in grant funding from the National Agency for Innovation Development «QazInnovations». The event ended with a coffee break, communication and photo session. We wish all our graduates success in implementing their projects!

Astana International University (AIU) took part in the International Partnership Week, organized by the National Research University Higher School of Economics (Moscow) from September 24 to 29, 2023. The AIU delegation included - Vice - President of the AIU - Abdrakhmanov K.A. , Director of the Pedagogical Institute of AIU - Akhmadieva Z.K., Dean of the Higher School of Economics of AIU - Smagulova Z.K. and Director of the Department of International Cooperation of AIU – Zhmaka S.S.

This is an annual event organized by HSE and presents a platform where representatives of the world's leading universities gather and can discuss issues of development of the higher education system, as well as opportunities for expanding cooperation and forming new partnerships.

This year, representatives of academic circles from the African continent, CIS countries, the Middle East, Latin America, India and China took part in this event.

During the plenary sessions, issues of the growing role of integration associations, for example the Greater Eurasian Partnership, which could in the future unite the EAEU, SCO, BRICS, ASEAN and other countries participating in the event, were actively discussed.

In addition, topics were raised about the role of universities in the digital era, a common intellectual space, integrated communications, identifying talent among youth and many others.

Representatives of AIU - Smagulova Z. and Zhmaka S. presented their vision at the plenary sessions dedicated to the issues of SDGs and internationalization.

The solemn moment of the these days was the signing of an agreement between AIU and HSE, which includes student exchanges, teaching staff and prospects for future scientific and educational research and double-degree programs.

 President of Astana International University Irsaliyev S.A.  held a meeting with the rector of Beijing Language and Culture University Duan Peng, during which the parties discussed the prospects for expanding cooperation in the field of higher education and science.


 Irsaliyev S.A.  presented to foreign guests the activities of AIU, the main priorities of the university in the context of the new policy of Kazakhstan in the field of higher education and science, about joint programs and projects being implemented with foreign partners.  He emphasized the interest of Kazakhstani students in learning Chinese language as well as the wide potential for developing cooperation between Kazakhstani and Chinese universities.


 For his part, Prof. Duan Peng informed about the projects being implemented by the university in the field of training professional translators and specialists with knowledge of Chinese language, the opening of the Sinology Center by the university in Qingdao and the plans of the Chinese university to increase the number of grants for Kazakhstani students.


 The parties agreed to promote academic exchange of teachers and students and to explore the possibility of opening double-degree programs.  The Chinese side expressed its readiness to open its branch in the Kazakhstani capital after additional marketing research.


 Background: Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU) is a key public university directly under the control of the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China, also known as the "Little United Nations".  The university is a world-renowned university offering international education in Chinese and other foreign languages.


 The university's predecessor was the Higher Preparatory School for Foreign Students, founded in 1962 and renamed Beijing Language Institute in 1964.  In 1996, it was renamed Beijing Language and Culture University.


 BLCU graduates include many world-famous political and public figures, incl.  President of the Republic of Kazakhstan K.K. Tokayev, who had a language internship at this university in 1983-1984.
