On September 28, 2023, students of the Higher School of Law under the leadership of Deputy Dean Seilkhanov Zh.D. and curators Zhambaev E.S., Yelubekova A.K. visited the Sharapat Nursing Home.

The purpose of the event is to educate the Kazakh youth in moral qualities and charity.

Students have prepared a concert program. The residents of the Sharapat house listened to folk songs with pleasure, sang along and danced.

The atmosphere of the Nursing Home deeply touched the hearts of young people. The students quickly found a common language with the older generation: they told about themselves and listened to interesting stories from their past. The guys also examined the rooms of the boarding house and the places of leisure for pensioners. The students noted that there was such a warm atmosphere in the nursing home that they had the feeling that they were visiting a large friendly family.

Students of the Higher School of Law with a concert program and gifts pleased the residents of the Sharapat house.

Our students came to the conclusion that it is necessary to be able to sympathize, empathize and support such people while they are alive, and they do not necessarily need to be their grandmother or grandfather.

 President of Astana International University Irsaliyev S.A.  held a meeting with the rector of Beijing Language and Culture University Duan Peng, during which the parties discussed the prospects for expanding cooperation in the field of higher education and science.

 Irsaliyev S.A.  presented to foreign guests the activities of AIU, the main priorities of the university in the context of the new policy of Kazakhstan in the field of higher education and science, about joint programs and projects being implemented with foreign partners.  He emphasized the interest of Kazakhstani students in learning Chinese language as well as the wide potential for developing cooperation between Kazakhstani and Chinese universities.

 For his part, Prof. Duan Peng informed about the projects being implemented by the university in the field of training professional translators and specialists with knowledge of Chinese language, the opening of the Sinology Center by the university in Qingdao and the plans of the Chinese university to increase the number of grants for Kazakhstani students.

 The parties agreed to promote academic exchange of teachers and students and to explore the possibility of opening double-degree programs.  The Chinese side expressed its readiness to open its branch in the Kazakhstani capital after additional marketing research.

 Background: Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU) is a key public university directly under the control of the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China, also known as the "Little United Nations".  The university is a world-renowned university offering international education in Chinese and other foreign languages.

 The university's predecessor was the Higher Preparatory School for Foreign Students, founded in 1962 and renamed Beijing Language Institute in 1964.  In 1996, it was renamed Beijing Language and Culture University.

 BLCU graduates include many world-famous political and public figures, incl.  President of the Republic of Kazakhstan K.K. Tokayev, who had a language internship at this university in 1983-1984.

The Higher School of Social Sciences and Humanities organized an open lecture on the topic “China’s foreign policy initiatives and their impact on the situation in the world.”

The invited guest and main speaker of the lecture was Professor, Doctor of Political Sciences - Ermekbaev Nurlan Bayuzakovich.

The lecture examines in detail China's foreign policy initiatives, as well as the impact of these initiatives on the world stage. The speaker also shared his vast experience and knowledge of practical activities in the field of diplomacy.

On September 25-27, 2023, the International Industrial Exhibition “INNOPROM Qazaqstan” was held for the first time at the EXPO International Exhibition Center in Astana.

Students majoring in International Relations at the Higher School of Social Sciences and Humanities took an active part in organizing this event. It is important to note the busy program of the international exhibition, which included: the Russian-Kazakh industrial forum with the participation of heads of delegations, specialized sessions on topics such as

  1. digitalization of industry;

  2. cooperation in mechanical engineering;

  3. technologies for energy and international cooperation.

Leading industrial and innovative companies from the EAEU countries were represented.

During the preparation and holding of the event, our students gained valuable experience in organizing large events and expanded their professional skills and knowledge.

Today we will tell you about the participant of our second stream of the incubation program Anara Ibraeva. Anara presents the project "ECO SWEETS", which is the production of sweets for children, allergy sufferers and people suffering from diabetes.

We were able to attend Anara's master class and see the production process, meet people who support the culture of proper nutrition. Anara's dream is to create a confectionery factory for the production of sweets in Kazakhstan. We wish Anara success in the implementation of her project.

The lecturer of the Astana International University, R.V. Sysoeva, delivered a course of lectures at the partner university, the Belarusian State University of Economics (BSEU) in Minsk. BSEU is one of the best university of Belarus, which has trained more than 165 thousand specialists in the field of economics, financial and banking system, trade, public administration and other spheres.

The lectures were devoted to the economic and political development of Kazakhstan and achievements in the framework of the integration of the EAEU countries, which in addition to Kazakhstan and Belarus includes Russia, Kyrgyzstan and Armenia. Sysoeva Rigina also took part in the events of the Minsk Dialogue, an expert platform for researchers in the post–Soviet space. The lectures organized as part of the postdoctoral research of the Committee of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan (IRN AP13268711 «Eurasian Economic Union: achievements and obstacles to the creation of a regional security community»).

We thank our colleagues from BSEU (V.V. Moroz and others) for organizing meetings at the university.

20 September this year students of the Pedagogical Institute on the initiative of teachers of the educational program «History» Kauanova Sh., Tuyakova A. made a tour to the memorial museum of victims of political persecution «Karlag»located near the city of Karaganda. The mobile lecture was attended by 50 students, which was organized to combine the historical knowledge of students with practice. During the lecture, historians learned about Stalin’s repressive policies, famine, genocide, deportations and labor camps in the 1930s. Archival documents, valuable artifacts, educational exhibits related to the history of persecution, reveal the content of the sad history and do not allow students to feel the dark period. There is a Chinese proverb: "旅 行 电 影 后 时 间 会 像 上 明 的 一 个" (No one returns from the journey as before). It is clear that the mobile lecture positively influenced the formation of a different attitude of students-historians to New Kazakhstan.

On September 21, as part of the republican project “Archive of Zhane Bolashak Urpak”, an open day was held in the building of the National Archive of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Students of Historical Sciences of the Higher School of Social Sciences of AIU took an active part in this event.

As part of the project, introductory excursions were held on the areas of activity of the archive, a review of thematic photo-documentary expositions and exhibitions, as well as exciting events and activities were organized for participants.

We would like to note that during the meeting, a lot of useful information was received, as well as positive emotions.

Thus, the event contributed to the development of archival culture, introducing young people to the values and traditions of Kazakhstan.

In the period from August 28 to September 10, 2023, a series of master classes from Speaker Arman Akberdiev took place as part of the incubation program. Participants of two incubation programs studied such aspects of business as: analysis of the stage of implementation of a business project, market research and evaluation, project monetization models, Сanvas business model, customer research, product promotion on the market, team formation, etc. The speaker take the special attention to such an aspect as the presentation and pitch of the project for the Demo Day. Master classes were held in an interactive format, through case studies and practical examples and recommendations for beginners and active entrepreneurs participating in the incubation program.

On September 13, a meeting was held between the President of the AIU Irsaliyev S.A. and the Rector of the University of International Business and Economics (UIBE) Zhao Zhongxiu. The meeting took place in Beijing within the walls of the Chinese partner university. The meeting was held in a friendly manner: the President of the AMU congratulated his colleague on taking office, noted the long-term friendship and cooperation between universities - cooperation with UIBE has been in effect almost since the founding of the AIU. In particular, in 2019, an agreement was signed between universities on the creation of a joint institute of international business and economics in Astana on the basis of the AIU. Despite the difficulties of the pandemic period, the institute began its work in 2020 and made its first enrollment. Today, about 70 students are studying double-diploma programs at the institute. The first graduation is expected next year. There is a clear upward trend in the number of people wishing to study at the institute, which indicates the great potential of the Kazakh-Chinese educational program. Also, this year, the institute, with the support of partners, organized and conducted the first summer school in China - for 14 days, students not only visited historical monuments, enjoyed the picturesque nature, but also visited industrial and technical facilities, the Kazakh-Chinese logistics center in Lianyungang city, plunged into culture and improved their level of language with native speakers.

During the meeting, work issues were also raised. The problems and concerns that had accumulated during the pandemic, as well as during the practical experience of implementing joint projects, were openly voiced. It was proposed to take into account and use this experience in the future to improve the quality of the program and student learning conditions.

In addition to educational projects, the international orientation of the activities of the two universities was noted, as well as the important role and contribution that universities can and should make to the development and strengthening of friendship between countries, scientific and academic support of ongoing international projects. The research potential and sites of the two universities were announced and on this basis cooperation could be established and deepened. In particular, such areas as the Belt and Road Initiative and the New Eurasian Land Bridge, cooperation with Jiangsu Province and the city of Lianyungang in the field of maritime transport and port infrastructure, opening access to the sea for Kazakhstan and the countries of Central Asia, were announced.

The universities agreed to continue to provide each other with comprehensive support in the implementation of both current and future projects, and to adhere to the principles of openness and friendship.

On September 15, in the walls of the International University "Astana", a guest lecture was held on the topic "The role of EU regions" in world politics, organized within the framework of the Higher School of Social and Human Sciences. The invited guest and speaker was Tadeusz Jedrzejczak, Polish diplomat, political analyst, vice-marshal of Lubusz Voivodeship, as well as Chairman of the INTERREG EU committee.

In this lecture, the geostrategic interests and geopolitical challenges faced by the European Union on the way to strengthening its role in the international arena were revealed in detail. The issues of regional integration of the EU were also considered, which is very relevant for the current situation.

The lecture was especially interesting for the audience.

On September 13, 2023, within the framework of the incubation program "AIU BUSINESS INNOVATION", Saken Sabitovich, project manager of JSC "Science Foundation", certified business coach of NCE «Atameken» Kazenov, was invited to speak on explaining the conditions of grant financing.

The invited speaker addressed the teams of the 1st and 2nd streams of the incubation program. During the presentation, information was provided about the goals and principles of competitive selection, requirements for the applicant and the project team. At the end of the presentation, the audience was able to ask questions about the process of submitting documents for participation in the selection competition, as well as the main conditions for financing business projects.
