Eco-journalism as a tool for solving environmental problems
Fri, Oct 11, 2024, 11:34 AM

Eco-journalism plays an important role in modern society. Eco-journalists report on environmental events, analyze and contribute to critical consideration of the actions of governments, corporations and organizations, identifying environmental crimes and policy flaws.

Through their materials, they teach the audience the basics of ecology, sustainable development and the importance of protecting nature, create a dialogue platform for discussing environmental issues in society with the involvement of various groups — from local communities to international organizations. All this contributes to the formation of public opinion in favor of environmental protection.

Nargiz Kasimova, an expert in the field of eco-journalism, Doctor of Philology, Professor at the Tashkent University of Journalism and Mass Communication, media coach, director of the NGO Ecologist, told environmental students about this today, September 11, 2024.

Environmental students had a unique opportunity to hear interesting and inspiring cases from her practice as an eco-journalist and social activist. It was especially interesting to hear about the professor's project on the impact of climate change on gender-based violence.

At the end of the lecture, the professor presented her e-book on eco-journalism to all participants. 📖🎁 The students and teachers thanked the guest for the gift and expressed their desire to cooperate further. 🤝

Bridges of dialogue: Visit of Iranian scientists to Astana International University
Tue, Oct 8, 2024, 9:30 AM

On October 7 of this year, Astana International University hosted an exciting meeting with Ali Akbar Ziai, PhD, Head of the Center for Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue (CID), and Ali Akbar Talebi Matin, Cultural Adviser to the Embassy of the Iranian Republic in Kazakhstan. Students, teachers and researchers gathered in the audience, each of whom was immersed in the discussion of burning issues of interreligious and intercultural interaction.

The organizer of this significant event was the Center for Sustainable Development and International Partnership, which emphasizes the importance of dialogue between cultures within the framework of international cooperation. Dr. Ali Akbar Ziai is a world—renowned scientist who has devoted his career to the study of Islamic trends and cultural interactions. In his speech, he spoke about the work of the International Institute of Islamic Thought and Civilization in Malaysia, where he was a researcher for a long time. Dr. Ziai's knowledge and research cover a wide range of religious and cultural issues.

In his speech, the doctor touched upon one of the key topics of his work — how semantics can reveal such important values as freedom, faith, confidence and tolerance. These ideas are reflected in his famous book «Islam, Science, and Technology», which is devoted to the relationship between science and religion, which is especially relevant in modern society.

During the meeting, topical issues such as the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the spiritual state of society, as well as the role of modern technologies, including artificial intelligence, in preserving small cultures and religious values were discussed. It was noted that in the modern world, artificial intelligence can become an important tool if its capabilities are used correctly, without losing the importance of cultural and spiritual traditions.

«The role of culture and history in religious dialogue is huge. This will become even more important in the future, as we face new challenges that require deep understanding. Culture and religion are inextricably linked, they influence our perception of the world and the future. Our task is to continue to explore these issues and share knowledge with future generations,» the scientist said in his speech.

At the end of the meeting, it was proposed to organize a series of lectures for AIU students on interesting topics. Serik Aztayevich Irsaliev, President of the University, thanked the guests and expressed hope for further cooperation: «We are worried about what is happening in Iran right now, but we hope that everything will be fine, and in our relations too. We will be glad if we can jointly carry out a scientific project».

This event was not only a significant step in the development of international scientific relations, but also an inspiring example of how knowledge can unite people despite differences. The University is looking forward to new meetings and projects that will help strengthen cultural bridges between countries and peoples.
