On April 25-26, 2024, the second stage of the XVI Republican Student Subject Olympiad among students of higher educational institutions of the Republic of Kazakhstan in 6B061 Information and Communication Technologies was held at the base of Toraygyrov University (Pavlodar).

The goal of the Olympiad was to develop and support talented students, stimulate their creative abilities, form a high intellectual potential, actively involve them in solving modern scientific problems, and encourage interest in scientific activities.

More than 28 teams from across Kazakhstan gathered to demonstrate their knowledge and skills in the field of ICT.

The Olympiad consisted of two rounds of intense competition. The first round focused on testing participants' knowledge in the subjects of databases and computer networks, assessing the depth of understanding of these key areas of ICT. In the second round, participants solved three programming tasks, which required both deep knowledge and creative thinking from them.

The AIU team, representing the International University of Astana, composed of students: Kyzainbek Ai-Kerim, Marat Zhanel, and Erejep Bekarys, under the guidance of senior lecturer Mira Kaldarova from SIT&E, secured the third place overall. They demonstrated excellent preparation and technical skills throughout the competition.

In the age of technological progress, the ideas of young people play a key role in shaping the future of business and society as a whole. Therefore, it is not surprising that every year startup project contests for schoolchildren are becoming more popular and attractive. In this context, April 19, 2024 became an important date for the innovation community, as the successful competition "Business Innovation for School 2024" was held, organized by Astana International University in partnership with American Corner and Dodo Pizza. The participants of the competition were represented by schoolchildren from 24 teams. Astana, such as NISH, BINOM, IQanat, Lyceum No. 37 and others.

The ideas presented at the competition were diverse and fascinating. They covered various fields, including technology, medicine, ecology, education and much more. However, despite the diversity, all the projects had one thing in common - the desire to change the world for the better through innovation.

The expert jury examined each project, assessing its potential and feasibility. After long discussions and analysis, the jury selected the winners, whose projects were recognized as the most promising and innovative.

The winners of the "Business Innovation for School 2024" competition are:

1st place - the "ARA Team" Harmony Steam school team consisting of Rakishev Ramadan, Sarsengalieva Aya and Ybysh Altair;

2nd place – the «Iqanat» team IQanat High School of Burabay consisting of Mammadova Zarina, Mayevskaya Margarita and Beysenbek Elnur;

3rd place - the team "Team reSet" Gymnasium No. 17 named after A. Kurmanov, consisting of Batanov Alisher, Zholdasbek Isa and Saparbayev Mansur.

Thus, the successful holding of the Business Innovation for School 2024 competition has become a vivid example of how schoolchildren can generate business ideas and bring them to life. This competition is not just a competition of projects, but also a platform for the birth of new ideas, on which the future of our country is being shaped.

On April 18, 2024, the XVI Republican Student subject Olympiad in the specialty "Law" among students of higher educational institutions of the Republic of Kazakhstan was held at Turan-Astana University.

24 universities of Kazakhstan took part in the Olympiad. The Olympiad was held in two rounds. The first round includes test tasks in civil and criminal law, the second round is the solution of situational cases in civil and criminal proceedings.

Of the 96 students who took part in the Olympiad, 12 students qualified for the second round, 4 of them were students of the Higher School of Law of Astana International University.

In the second round, each participant's work was evaluated individually. The 6 students who scored the most points won prizes.

Diplomas of the II degree were awarded to 3rd year students of the Higher School of Law of the Astana International University, Sergey Moskal and Daniyarqyzy Qarlygash.

In the team competition, the 1st place was taken by students of the Higher School of Law of Astana International University.

The ramifications of natural disasters within our nation are widely recognized. It is evident that such calamities have also impacted the domiciles of students attending AIU. The institution, situated in the capital's nucleus, remains steadfast in its commitment to assist its student body, which comprises individuals from diverse regions of the country. In response to these events, a series of initiatives were orchestrated, garnering contributions from both faculty and students alike. Consequently, on April 11, 2024, the Pedagogical Institute's staff orchestrated a philanthropic event titled "Our students are our children." Furthermore, on April 17, within the confines of the university, the Pedagogical Institute's students conducted an extensive "Charity Fair," for which they personally crafted homemade culinary dishes and baked goods. The collaborative efforts and the collective aspiration to render aid foster a cohesive and supportive environment, thereby facilitating the surmounting of adversities.

On April 15, 2024, the Higher School of Information Technologies and Engineering held a university subject Olympiad in programming for 1st-3rd year students.

The goal of the Olympiad was to develop and support talented students, stimulate their creative abilities, form a high intellectual potential, actively involve them in solving modern scientific problems, and encourage interest in scientific activities.

According to the commission's assessment, the following students were recognized as the best:

1st place - Satybaldy Andas (CE&S-22B)

2nd place - Erejep Bekarys, Kyzainbek Ay-Kerim (CE&S -22A)

3rd place - Taldykbayeva Tamiris, Yershekina Meruert (DS-22B), Marat Zhanely (DS-23B).

The winners were awarded diplomas of I, II, and III degrees, as well as received valuable prizes. Participation in the subject Olympiad opens up wide prospects for improving the level of knowledge and professional training of students. On the eve of the celebration of Science Workers' Day in Kazakhstan on April 12, another meeting of scientists with schoolchildren was held at the Children's University of Astana International University. In accordance with the work plan, the school held a research event on the theme “Journey to the World of Water”, designed to better acquaint 5th grade students with the importance of water in our lives and its impact on the environment. The purpose of the event is to promote interdisciplinary learning and practical application of knowledge acquired by students in the fields of biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics and computer science. This event also aims to develop critical thinking, research skills and awareness of environmental responsibility among young people.

32 5th grade schoolchildren from school-gymnasium No. 78 in Astana worked in groups for 50 minutes, visiting 5 research stations, each of which was dedicated to a specific scientific discipline related to the study of water. At each station, students spent 10 minutes completing experiments and tasks under the guidance of scientists and students from the Pedagogical Institute. At the end of the event, participants shared their findings and suggestions for conserving water resources.

The date of this meeting of scientists with schoolchildren, April 11, 2024, was not chosen by chance. For the first time in history, the European network EUCUNET declared this day “International Children's University Day”.

We believe that this event will not only be a meaningful and educational experience for students, but will also help them develop a responsible attitude towards the use of natural resources.

On April 15-16, 2024, the event "TRAVEL Hack-2024: Transformative Routes, Adventure, Vision, Exploration and Legacy" took place at Maqsut Narikbayev University, with participation from over 100 students from all cities of Kazakhstan.

During these two days, they presented and defended various projects aimed at finding innovative ideas and solutions to current issues in the field of domestic tourism. The total prize fund amounted to 1,600,000 tenge.

On April 15, 2024, students of the Higher School of Law of Astana International University, together with senior lecturer Seilkhanov Zh.D., attended an open court session of the Specialized Criminal Court of Astana City. Currently, students are studying the topic of criminal offenses against public health and morality, on the subject of Criminal Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan, where a court hearing was held on a criminal case against citizen who named “N” accused under Article 296 h. 2 “Illegal handling of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, and their analogues without the purpose of sale” and under Article 297 Part 3 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan "Illegal manufacture, processing, acquisition, storage, transportation for the purpose of sale, shipment or sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, and their analogues."

Within the framework of these court sessions, students got acquainted with the procedure for holding a court session: opening of the meeting; explanation by the court to the parties of their procedural rights; submission of petitions by the parties; statement by the prosecutor on the need to elect (extend) a preventive measure in the form of detention to the suspect (accused), speech by a lawyer, as well as other participants. In addition, the students saw the role that professional ethics plays in the work of lawyers.

The Ambassador of China to Kazakhstan Zhang Xiao visited Astana International University. During the negotiations with the President of AIU Serik Irsaliyev the parties discussed a number of important issues regarding bilateral relations in the field of higher education and science.

The President of AIU outlined the university's key priorities and collaboration with leading Chinese universities (Beijing, Tsinghua, UIBE, BLCU, Fudan, Jiangsu). He particularly highlighted the visit of a delegation from a Kazakhstani university to China in March of this year, during which an agreement was signed to establish a branch campus of Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU) at AIU.

The head of the diplomatic mission positively assessed the development of cooperation between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the People's Republic of China in the field of education and science. According to him, Chinese universities are eager to establish and develop partnership contacts with Kazakhstani universities, among which AIU holds an important position. He emphasized the significance of opening a branch campus of BLCU, which is the main university for training Sinologists and Chinese language translators. The Embassy, on its part, will provide necessary assistance in organizing the branch's operations.

For the third year in a row, a republican charity concert was held at the Astana Opera Theater, where talented children with special needs performed!

On behalf of the educational foundation “Abacus Daryn”, teacher of the Pedagogical Institute Malgazhdarova D.A., 4th year foreign language student Zhumanaly Aizat, 1st year foreign language student Akhmadieva R. received letters of gratitude for their volunteer activities in assisting in holding this event!

The School of Natural Sciences, as part of Career Day, organized an excursion to the Astana regional branch of the Republican Veterinary Laboratory. Students, accompanied by teaching staff Zh. Adamzhanova and M. Zhumagul, visited the laboratory of Diagnostics of Animal Diseases - head Tulegenova G., «Food Safety» - head Bekeshova Zh. and the department for receiving samples and information - head Sugiralieva L.

Director of the Astana regional branch Alimzhanova G. introduced the students to the activities of the enterprise, spoke about current projects and experiments carried out in their institution.

The activities of the enterprise are aimed at ensuring the epizootic well-being of the country regarding especially dangerous animal diseases.  The company provide services for diagnostic studies.  It is worth noting that biology-students annually undergo practical training and conduct experiments for their diploma research in this enterprise.

On April 3, 2024, the results of the I Intra-University Marketing Olympiad "MarketMasters" organized by the Higher School of Economics, were summed up. 24 applications were submitted for participation in the Olympiad. The experts were Akmaral Rymbek, founder of the advertising agency @ akma.target.agency, international NLP practitioner, expert mentor; Bekenova Aigul, lecturer at Esil University in marketing; teaching staff of the Higher School of Economics. According to the results of the work of the expert commission, the following works were recognized as the best:

• 3rd place - team Management 23 B - Market Lionesses

• Nomination "Creative Idea" - team Economy 21 A - Zhiger.
