On December 12, 2024, a guest lecture on intellectual property (IP) was held at Astana International University. During the event, Gaziz Amreev, Deputy Director of the National Institute of Intellectual Property, shared valuable insights with students about the significance of IP for innovation, economic growth, and cultural development.
In his presentation, Gaziz Amreev elaborated on the legal foundations of IP protection in Kazakhstan, covering key documents such as the Civil Code of Kazakhstan, the Law on Copyright and Related Rights, the Patent Law, and other regulatory acts. He also discussed the functions of Qazpatent, including conducting expert assessments, registering IP objects, and maintaining registries.
Particular attention was given to the importance of IP protection in stimulating innovation, increasing competitiveness, and supporting cultural development, with examples from global practices, including Coca-Cola, J.K. Rowling, and major tech companies.
The event was featured on the Khabar TV channel, highlighting the importance of this topic for both students and the wider public. This event was part of AIU's educational initiatives aimed at increasing youth awareness of the role of intellectual property in the modern world.
