On November 27, Almaty hosted the international conference "Implementation of Environmental Initiatives in Universities: Successful Experience and Development" with the participation of representatives of educational institutions, students and experts in the field of sustainable development. Astana International University was represented by Senior Lecturer of the Higher School of Natural Sciences, PhD Karabalaeva Aiman.

The event was organized by the ERA Foundation and brought together leading experts in the field of environmental education at the site of the Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi, such as Elena Gorokhova (ERA Foundation), Gaini Dlimbetova (L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University) and many others. The main goal of the conference was to discuss successful examples of the implementation of "green" technologies and create a platform for the exchange of experience between universities in Kazakhstan and international partners.

As part of the event, the participants got acquainted with the international program "Green Universities", learned about the work of eco-clubs, and discussed the prospects for forming the Association of Green Universities. Karabalaeva Aiman ​​shared practical approaches to the implementation of environmental standards and methods for forming an environmental culture among students. Such initiatives highlight the importance of sustainability in higher education and help create conditions for preparing students for modern challenges. The conference was another step towards an environmentally conscious future and strengthening cooperation between universities in the region.

Students of the Pedagogical Institute of Astana International University, enrolled in the educational program "6B01503-Chemistry," achieved significant success at the III International Chemistry Olympiad among university students, demonstrating a high level of professional training and commitment to achieving their goals.

As a result of their participation in the III International Chemistry Olympiad among university students, the team won three medals, showcasing exceptional skills and professional competence. Furthermore, our students were the only participants additionally awarded prizes for their active involvement in all three sections of the International Scientific and Practical Conference organized as part of the Olympiad.

We are particularly proud of the fact that our team was the only pedagogical team to compete on equal terms with representatives of scientific chemistry and the only representative from Kazakhstan among participants from 13 countries worldwide.

From November 1 to November 23, 2024, 4th year student of the educational

program 6B04117 "Economics" Yerzhan Asylym and 1st year master's student of the

educational program 7M04106 "Management" Estemes Dilnaz took part in the

International educational internship "Study tour experience" project of the National

Research University "Higher School of Economics" in Moscow (Russia).

«Study Tour Experience» is a unique project for students who want to try on

the role of a student at a top university and strengthen their resume. The internship

gives the opportunity to achieve new results that are necessary in building a career

and professional activity.

From November 25 to 29, 2024, Dean of the Higher School of Economics of Astana International University, PhD, Professor Z.K. Smagulova took part in the Visiting Professor program at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation.

Training sessions on the topics of "Public Relations in Social Business" and "Marketing Communications in the Innovative Economy" were held remotely. Students of the Faculty of social sciences and mass communications took an active part in discussing a number of issues and solving cases. Such programs contribute to improving the quality of educational programs implemented for partner universities.

Within the framework of the discipline "Creative thinking and business-idea generation", senior lecturer Baltabayev B.Zh. conducted practical classes on the important topic of sustainable development - SDG 6: Clean water and sanitation. The lesson became a platform for finding innovative solutions to current problems.

In the course of the work, students considered cases related to monitoring water quality, optimizing its consumption in domestic conditions and raising awareness about sanitation and water resources. Among the proposals were the ideas of creating automatic water analysis systems using mobile applications, the introduction of "Smart" technologies to reduce water consumption in everyday life, as well as the development of an educational platform including interactive modules, lectures and tests.

The practical lesson showed that creative thinking is a powerful tool for solving global problems. The participants not only learned the basics of the environmental approach, but also demonstrated a deep understanding of the importance of integrating these solutions into everyday life. The best ideas will be presented at the upcoming business ideas competition. This experience helps students realize their role in achieving sustainable development and improving the quality of life.

On November 29, representatives of the Pedagogical Institute of the Astana International University took part in the "Career Fair," organized at Gymnasium No. 90 named after K. Mukhamedkhanov under the administration of the city of Astana.The event aimed to introduce high school students to the educational programs offered by our university and to assist them in making informed career choices.

Faculty members of the Pedagogical Institute met with 10th and 11th-grade students to share insights about the unique opportunities for studying, modern teaching methods, and vibrant student life. Special attention was given to admission requirements, career prospects, and the advantages of the Pedagogical Institute's educational programs.

The students showed great interest, actively asking questions about the opportunities presented. The atmosphere of the meeting was filled with enthusiasm and inspiration.

On December 2, 2024, the 4th stream of the AIU BUSINESS INNOVATION incubation program was launched at the Higher School of Economics, aimed at developing entrepreneurial skills, generating innovative business ideas and preparing projects for participation in the grant financing competition from NAID QazInnovations JSC.

The program brought together participants from different parts of Kazakhstan: Astana, Almaty, Karaganda, Kokshetau and Aktobe. This event was also attended by representatives of NAID QazInnovations JSC: Anuar Amyrtayuly - Director of the expertise center, Saniya Zhanibekovna - head of technological expertise. At the opening of the program, they spoke in detail about the grant financing mechanism and the key stages of submitting applications, which aroused great interest among the participants.

The incubation program is designed to support aspiring and active entrepreneurs who seek to turn their ideas into reality. As part of the training, participants will receive valuable knowledge, tools for building a successful business, as well as a certificate of completion of the training program. The program will last until December 28, 2024, and its completion will be the preparation of promising projects for participation in the grant financing competition and a presentation at the Demo Day in front of experts.

On November 22–23, 2024, Astana International University, in collaboration with AI Universal University (India), co-hosted the International Conference on Sustainable Development held in Mumbai. The event attracted leading experts from nine countries, including the USA, China, Iran, Vietnam, the Philippines, and others. Organized in a Case Study format, the conference brought together academics and practitioners to address the key challenges of sustainable development. It provided a unique platform for exchanging experiences, analyzing real-life cases, and exploring practical solutions in areas such as education, economics, and ecology.

The main focus of the conference was on integrating theoretical knowledge and practical approaches through case methodology. This allowed participants not only to discuss pressing issues but also to model potential solutions. Key topics addressed during the conference included:

Innovative approaches to reforming the education system to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs);

Environmental sustainability programs aimed at combating climate change and preserving natural resources;

Promoting sustainable economic growth, considering regional and international integration aspects.

One of the significant outcomes of the conference was the adoption of a resolution aimed at actively incorporating sustainable development principles into educational programs and research. Astana International University demonstrated its commitment to the SDGs by initiating the development of new educational strategies focused on fostering a sustainable university ecosystem.

The conference also featured workshops and interactive sessions, which facilitated intercultural and professional dialogue. Such events strengthen international collaboration and help universities play a leading role in addressing global challenges.

On November 29, 2024, Astana International University hosted a lecture by the Deputy Secretary General of the CSTO, Taalatbek Shamudinovich Masadykov, on the topic "Topical issues of regional security in Central Asia". During the lecture, the key challenges of the region, the role of Afghanistan and the contribution of the CSTO to ensuring stability were highlighted.

The lecture aroused great interest among students of the specialty "International Relations" and teachers, who actively asked questions about the prospects of international cooperation in Central Asia. In particular, the discussion touched upon important issues such as the development of quality education, which is the basis for the stability and prosperity of the region, as well as Kazakhstan's role in achieving global goals such as poverty eradication and zero hunger.

The lecture was continued by a seminar during which experts and young scientists of the university presented reports on the multi-vector policy of Kazakhstan, humanitarian initiatives, as well as the impact of Afghanistan on Central Asia. These topics have become important elements of the discussion, focusing on how international cooperation and decisive action can help solve global problems such as hunger and poverty and ensure long-term security and stability in the region.

This meeting was a unique opportunity for AIU students and teachers not only to hear the opinion of a world-class expert, but also to be inspired by new ideas and initiatives aimed at developing the region and solving the most pressing problems. She recalled that through open dialogue, cooperation and common efforts, it is possible to overcome any challenges, creating the foundation for a better future.

On November 29, 2024, Astana International University was visited by Deputy Secretary General of the CSTO Taalatbek Shamudinovich Masadykov. His visit was a significant event dedicated to discussing key challenges to regional security.

The event began with a solemn ceremony at which the President of the University S.A. Irsaliev warmly welcomed the guest and awarded him the title of Honorary Professor of AIU.

During the meeting, the most important issues related to regional stability, security cooperation and the role of the CSTO in addressing current threats were discussed. It also became an opportunity for AIU students and faculty to learn about the activities of international organizations and expand their knowledge in the field of world politics and security.

We are proud to have the opportunity to receive such outstanding guests and discuss important issues for the region. The AIU remains a platform for constructive dialogue and international cooperation.

As part of cooperation with the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, on November 22 and 25, 2024, the Higher School of Economics hosted guest lectures in an online format by Marina Leonidovna Galas, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor of the Department of Mass Communications and Media Business, Faculty of Social Sciences and Mass Communications.

Guest lectures were aimed at students of the educational program 6B04122 "International Business". Students learned a lot of interesting and useful information on such topics as "Collaboration of brands in politics and business" and "Economic international migration".
