On February 17, 2023, the Higher School of Natural Sciences of Astana International University, together with the PlastNet Network, organized the conference “Sustainable management of plastic waste: from prevention to efficient recycling”.
The conference was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan, representatives of universities, manufacturers / importers of products in plastic containers, collectors and processors of plastic waste, as well as international experts in the regulation of plastic waste.
The conference discussed issues of plastic waste regulation, ongoing and planned government measures to support and develop business in the waste management industry, obligations of manufacturers and importers: methods of implementation. Dean of the Higher School of Natural Sciences Ph.D. Seitkan Ainur, who noted that Astana International University became the first university to join the Plastnet Network and officially introduce a system of separate waste collection among Astana universities.
The final chord of the conference was the performance of the eco-club of students of our university "Clean and Green AIU".
