On April 26, 2024, the first interuniversity environmental debate dedicated to Earth Day was held at Astana International University.
Students of the Kazakh Agrotechnical Research University named after. S. Seifullin, Eurasian National University. L.N. Gumilev, Kazakh University of Technology and Business named after. K. Kulazhanov and Astana International University.
Debate develops essential soft skills such as public speaking, critical thinking, effective communication, argumentation, etc. These skills are essential both in everyday life and within the future professional environment.
Students discussed the most pressing environmental topics for Kazakhstan: the construction of a nuclear power plant in Kazakhstan, regulation of the number of saigas in Kazakhstan and recycling fees. Jury members from 4 universities determined the team of Astana International University as the winner of the debate. The 2nd place was taken by the KazUTB team, the 3rd place was shared by the teams of ENU and KazARU.
