Guest lecture within the framework of the “Pedagogical Class” project

On November 20, 2024, a guest lecture titled "English Teacher – Teacher of the Future" was held at School-Lyceum No. 11, organized by the faculty of the Pedagogical Institute of Astana International University: Zhamal Kultanova, Ainur Kanapyanova, and second-year master's students Nurgul Abilkerim and Zhuldyz Zhumagalieva. The lecture aimed to provide career guidance to high school graduates.

The event was attended by graduates from Schools No. 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 11, 26, 31, 35, 40, 56, 58, 60, 61, 65, 67, and 80 in the city of Astana. The goal of the lecture was to enhance the students' enthusiasm and readiness to choose a profession by expanding their knowledge of career options.

The lecturers shared insights on the importance of teaching English in the modern world, innovative teaching methods, and the role of teachers in developing communication skills. They also discussed the factors influencing career choice and the techniques and approaches necessary for making an informed decision about future professions.

In addition, the participants learned about the admission rules for Astana International University and received detailed information about other programs offered by the Pedagogical Institute. High school graduates had the opportunity to ask questions and receive answers on various topics.

Such events help students gain direction in choosing a profession and provide an understanding of the educational and career opportunities available to them in the future.

AIU Seminar for Educators: Advancing Research in Early Childhood Education

On November 19, 2024, as part of the cooperation agreement between Astana International University and RGP "Kindergarten "Қарлығаш" MCE of the Ministry of Education and Science of Kazakhstan, a seminar-workshop was held on the topic "Organization and Development of Pedagogical Research in Early Childhood Education".

The seminar was conducted by Dr. Zhanar Erkinovna Zhumabaeva, Professor at the Pedagogical Institute of AIU and scientific supervisor of one of the projects implemented at the experimental educational sites of "Қарлығаш" kindergarten.

From 2024 to 2027, two "Қарлығаш" kindergartens will be implementing the following experimental projects:

  • "Education and Teaching Based on National Values" – under the scientific guidance of Dr. Zhanar Erkinovna Zhumabaeva;
  • "EcoTeam: From Ecological Relationships to an Ecological Environment" – under the guidance of Dr. Zhanna K. Akhmadieva and PhD T.B. Kenzhebaeva.

During the seminar, participants were introduced to the key stages of organizing pedagogical research in early childhood education institutions and the methodological approaches necessary for the successful implementation of experimental projects.

The cooperation between AIU and "Қарлығаш" kindergartens is focused on introducing innovative methods into the educational process and developing a scientific foundation for training qualified professionals in early childhood education.

Round Table on Information Security and "Soft Power" for Sustainable Development and National Consolidation of Kazakhstan

On November 27, 2024, a round table on the topic "Humanitarian Aspects of Information Security and 'Soft Power' as Factors of Sustainable Development and National Consolidation of Kazakhstan" will take place at Hilton Garden Inn, organized by Astana International University. The event will serve as an important platform to discuss key issues related to security and societal development in the context of global challenges.

The round table is held as part of a project aimed at studying the humanitarian aspects of Kazakhstan’s information security and the potential of "soft power" as a resource for strengthening national consolidation. During the event, leading experts, scholars, and government representatives will propose solutions to enhance Kazakhstan’s resilience and develop recommendations for effective state policy.

A welcoming speech will be delivered by Serik Aztaevich Irsaliev, President of Astana International University, and Asem Kalashbaevna Rakhmetova, a member of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Key experts, including Galym Simbekovich Baytuk, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the "North Kazakhstan University named after M. Kozybaev", Aydar Kenzhebekovich Kurmashev, Head of the Asian Studies Department at the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, A.I. Drogovoz, Deputy Director of the Institute of International Education at Russian State University named after A.N. Kosygin, Alibek Timitaevich Tazhibayev, Director of the "Eurasian Monitoring" Center, Zhanat Baizhomartovich Mominqulov, Acting Head of the Department of Political Science at Eurasian National University named after L.N. Gumilyov, Yerjan Amangeldinovich Bagdatov, Director of the "Toppress.kz" news agency, and Kargash Dalelkhannovna Zhanpeisova, Professor of the Department of Political Science at Eurasian National University named after L.N. Gumilyov, will give reports.

Astana International University Included in the Times Higher Education Interdisciplinary Science Ranking 2025!

We are proud to announce that AIU has been included in the prestigious Times Higher Education Interdisciplinary Science Ranking (ISR) 2025, compiled in partnership with Schmidt Science Fellows.

🔥 This is a significant step in recognizing the university’s contribution to the global scientific community. AIU has been granted "reporter" status for its active participation in data collection and its commitment to advancing interdisciplinary science.

Why is this achievement important?

The Times Higher Education ISR evaluates universities based on their ability to integrate various disciplines, foster innovation, and address global challenges. Institutions on this list are recognized as leaders in developing new approaches to science and education.

AIU, a young and dynamically developing university in Kazakhstan, actively implements international standards in education and research. The university is focused on developing interdisciplinary programs and fostering an environment where science, technology, and innovation work in synergy.

Currently, AIU is implementing 29 scientific projects, highlighting its active participation in addressing pressing scientific issues. These projects include:

  • 14 Zhas Galym grants,
  • 4 PTF (Program-Targeted Funding) projects focusing on topics such as the Kazakhstan-Russia border, the Ulus of Jochi, the history of Northern Kazakhstan, and information security in the context of "soft power,"
  • 8 grants from the Ministry of Education and Science, covering hydrogen energy, the basins of the Esil and Nura rivers, flood forecasting, nation-building, information security, medicinal plants, and employment methodologies,

Academic Understanding of History: a seminar at AIU

On November 14, 2024, in anticipation of Independence Day and within the framework of the article "Lessons of a Historical Figure" by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, K.-Zh.K. Tokayev, the School of Higher Arts and Humanities at Astana International University hosted a scientific and methodological seminar titled "Modern History: Lessons from the Past." The seminar delved into pressing issues in the methodology of historical study and featured a range of distinguished speakers.

Among the key participants were Yerkin Amanzholovich Abil, Member of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of Kazakhstan, Doctor of Historical Sciences, and Professor; Kairat Amangeldinovich Abdrakhmanov, Vice President of Astana International University for International Cooperation and Student Affairs; Professor M.L. Anafinova of AIU; and Associate Professor S.Zh. Duisen of L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University. Scholars, faculty, and students from 1st to 4th year also contributed to the discussions.

Professor Abil shared new insights into the concept of national history, while Professor Anafinova introduced innovative interdisciplinary methodologies for historical research. The event fostered a vibrant exchange of ideas on the challenges and opportunities for advancing historical science. Students presented their reflections on topics such as the periodization of Kazakh history, the political history of the Great Horde, and the ongoing relevance of independence.

AIU Psychology Students Join Academic Mobility Program at HSE in Moscow 🌟

Third-year students of the “6B03103 – Psychology” program at Astana International University, Akerke Kanapyanova Meiramgazykzy and Angelina Bruner Zakharovna, have embarked on an academic mobility program in Moscow. They are studying at the National Research University Higher School of Economics (HSE), one of Russia’s leading institutions in social sciences and psychology. 🎓

During their studies at HSE, the students are attending courses designed to broaden their knowledge and develop valuable practical skills:

  • “Psychology of Creativity” (taught by Sergey Yagolkovsky) – exploring the psychological foundations of creative thinking and its applications. ✨
  • “Human Resource Management” (Natalya Kolesnikova) – an essential course focusing on psychological analysis in personnel management. 👩‍💼

The future of the country is in the hands of young people: 35 young activists have become part of AMANAT!

On November 14 this year, a significant event took place within the walls of Astana International University — a solemn ceremony of awarding party tickets to new members of the AMANAT party. At the event organized by the Yesil district branch, 35 young activists officially joined the ranks of the party, becoming part of a large community sharing common values and lofty goals for the future of Kazakhstan.

The ceremony was opened by the President of the University and chairman of the primary party organization Serik Aztayevich Irsaliev. In his speech, he stressed that young people are the engine of change, and their energy and ambitions give a new impetus to the development of the country. Then, to great applause, the ceremony of handing over party tickets began, which became a symbol of assuming responsibility and obligations for the future of the country.

Executive Secretary of the branches of the AMANAT party Yesil and Orkeniyet Sanira Oryntaykyzy Zhusipova addressed the participants with warm words. She thanked the new members for their active civic position, noting: "Bizdin kushimiz — birligimizde! Your bold initiatives and decisive actions will help the party reach new heights. Let's work together for the sake of a bright future for our country!"

During the event, letters of thanks were also presented from Yerlan Zhakanuly Koshanov, head of the Republican People's Headquarters, for his contribution to the referendum on the construction of nuclear power plants. The awards were given to outstanding representatives of science and industries, including Professor and Doctor of Technical Sciences Maira Kizatkyzy Mukysheva and director of the National Geodetic Center Meder Hamidollauly Maselov.

The evening ended with performances by the dance ensemble "Zhetigen" with a national number and the vocal club "Dudar-ai", who performed the song "Tugan Zher". These creative performances became the bright final point of the event.

The ceremony was not just a symbolic act, but the beginning of a new path for young people who joined the ranks of AMANAT. This decision is not only a recognition of responsibility for the fate of the country, but also a willingness to actively participate in its development, offer innovations and contribute to the stability of the state.
