On May 14, 2023, the Higher School of Natural Sciences, together with partners, organized a screening of environmental films as part of the Urbanitarium Ast program. The touring environmental documentary film festival Caravan CEFF was brought to Kazakhstan by Dana Coelho from the US state of Colorado. 5 five short films were shown about human love and greed for nature from around the world: the shallowing of one of the greatest rivers in the United States, the extinction of forests on the planet, a glimmer of hope in the Kazakh steppes, African nomads and the voice of indigenous peoples around the planet in their fight against change climate. Students and guests were satisfied with the show. With the power of cinema, we are doing our part to support the environmental movement!!

On May 15, 2023, a cooperation agreement was signed between Astana International University and the RSE on the REM "Information and Analytical Center for Environmental Protection" of the Ministry of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The Center is engaged in information and analytical support for the activities of the authorized body for planning and implementing measures to protect the environment and the realization of the right of citizens to an environment favorable for life and health.

During the first meeting, the parties agreed to conduct an internship for environmental students at the Center. During the practice, students of the Higher School of Natural Sciences will gain data skills, such as collecting, storing, processing and analyzing environmental information!

On April 28, 2023, the International Olympiad among students of higher educational institutions in the discipline "Botany" was held at the Karaganda University named after E. A. Buketov. The 3rd year student of the specialty 6B01502-Biology Zhenis Araylym and the 2nd year student of the specialty 6B05101-Biology Nasredin Aldina took part in the International University of Astana, who took the 3rd place. Scientific adviser - Master of Pedagogical Sciences Niyazbek Aruna Seilbekovna. Also, 3rd year students of the specialty 6B01502-Biology Kazanbaeva A. A., Zhuken A. S., Nurgazina A. E., Asylbek A. M. The competition of scientific research and project work this year was timed to coincide with the anniversary events and was an excellent platform for schoolchildren to demonstrate their scientific knowledge, skills and talents. Based on the results of the Competition, the commission noted the originality and innovativeness of the works that offered new ideas and approaches to solving economic problems.

1st place was taken by Serikbaeva Perizat, a student of school No. 4 of the secondary school in Khromtau, supervisor Kambarova B.B., the nominee received a 100% discount for the first year of study at the HSE.

2nd place was taken by Almabekov Shafkhat, a student of lyceum school No. 53, Astana, a discount of 10% of the cost of education. We thank the scientific leaders for their work! Congratulations to the winners and we are waiting for you at the university!

More than 160 participants were trained at the School of Social Entrepreneurship, NGO representatives gained skills in developing a strategic plan of activity, learned the basics of strategic and tactical planning, and the basics of managing social projects.

On May 3, teachers of the educational program "Preschool education and upbringing" Zhumabayeva Z.E., Akhmetzhanova A.K. and students of group -22 (Technical and vocational education) of the educational program "Preschool education and upbringing" conducted career guidance work in secondary school No. 16.  There were: training; quiz "Do you know AIU?" with the presentation of certificates and sweet prizes to the winners; presentation of information about the university; work with booklets and price lists; reading of M. Zhumabayev's poem "Men zhastarga senemin".

In order to replenish the library fund and popularize reading among students, the teacher of the Pedagogical Institute Sagimbayeva Gulnur proposed to start the action "Book Donation" and donated about 70 books from her private library to the university library fund.

The book is an inexhaustible spiritual treasure that gives the reader spiritual strength and education. The greatest legacy to the younger generation is book, the spirit of the past, the key to the future, the high pinnacle of culture. We encourage young people to read books, broaden their horizons and deepen their knowledge.

The Republican Olympiad was held in 2 stages: 1) Databases and computer networks 2) Object-oriented programming The Olympiad was attended by students of the Higher School of Information Technology and Engineering Nikolayev Bakhtiyar (CT&S-21 T&PE), Asylbekov Islam (IS-20A), Asset Alibek (CS-21B). The head of the team is a senior teacher at HSIT&E Kaladrova Mira Zhorabekovna. According to the results of the Olympiad, the team from the Higher School of Information Technology and Engineering of Astana International University took I place. NAO "Pavlodar Pedagogical University named after A. Margulan" with the support of KSU "Pavlodar Regional Information Technology Center" of the Department of Education of Pavlodar Region, held a competition of stem projects STEM DAY 2023 for students from grades 7 to 11, students of 1-2 courses of colleges and universities. 30 projects were submitted for the competition. A team of 3rd and 4th year students from Astana International University who study in the educational program "6B01506 Mathematics" participated in the Olympiad that took place from April 18th-23rd, 2023 at Suleyman Demirel University. The team consisted of Shukhrat Tursunov, Syndar Adal, and Nazerkе Temirshortova. The team leader was an Associate Professor Zhanys Aray Boshankyzhy.

A total of 16 teams participated in the Olympiad. In the team competition, our university was 5th, while Shukhrat Tursunov, a 4th year student and team leader under the guidance of an Associate Professor Almir Askarov Aniyarov, received the 3rd place prize in the individual competition.

AIU students took 1st place in Physics at the XV Republican Olympiad among students of higher education institutions of the Republic of Kazakhstan (in the team standings).

Winners: Amirzhan Zhakan (3rd year student), Omir Baibosynov (1st year student), and Ersultan Sauranbay (1st year student).

On April 27, 2023, the 2nd round of the Republican Subject Olympiad among students of universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the field of architectural and graphic design was held at the L.N. Gumilev ENU and on April 26 at the Kazakh Main Academy of Architecture and Civil Engineering in Almaty. University students from 18 regions of Kazakhstan took part in the Olympiad, the total number of participants was more than 70.
