A member of the Pakistan Academy of Sciences, Professor Shujaul Mulk Khan delivered lecture course  to AIU students in the spring semester of the 2023-2024 academic year. Professor Khan delivered lectures on biogeography for 2nd and 3rd-year students of the "6B05101 Biology" program, as well as for master's students of the "7M05201 Ecology and Environmental Management" program at the School of Natural Sciences.

The course covered topics such as the distribution of biological species across different regions of the Earth, the impact of climatic and geographical factors on biodiversity, and modern research methods in biogeography. Professor Khan willingly shared the latest scientific advancements and his own research, which undoubtedly deepened the students' knowledge and stimulated their interest in scientific research.

The International educational Corporation "Kazakh Head Architectural and Construction Academy" annually holds a Republican competition among the final qualifying works of students and undergraduates who have completed their studies in the specialty "Design".

On April 1, 2024, according to the results of the Republican on-line review-competition of graduation papers among universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan, graduate of the Graduate School of Art and Design in the specialty 7M02101 – Design Taisyuganova Malika took the honorable 1st place. The topic of the master's project is "Optical illusions as a shaping tool in the interior design of public spaces", supervisor – Candidate of Architecture, Associate Professor of the Higher School of Art and Design Kiseleva Tatyana Alexandrovna.

Further, Maliki's master's thesis was sent to participate in the XI International Festival of Architectural, Construction and Design Schools of Eurasia, specializing in Design. The international jury of this festival is represented by reputable scientists P. Posocco (PhD, Italy), V. Ketz (PhD, Italy), Kornilova A. A. (Doctor of Architecture, Professor, RK), Karabaev G. A. (PhD, Professor of RK), Surova E. M. (PhD, Professor, RF) , etc .

The jury reviewed 54 competitive works (46 diploma projects and 8 master's theses of scientific and pedagogical direction) from Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Russia, Uzbekistan. In the Master's Degree nomination, Malika Taisyuganova's dissertation was also recognized as the best and awarded a diploma of the first degree.

Students of Master degree of the 1st year of study in the scientific and pedagogical direction, studying in the educational program 7М01701 «Foreign language: two foreign languages» of the Pedagogical Institute AIU, from June 3 to June 20, 2024, undergo a scientific internship at the L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University.

Students of MA of the 1st year of study in the scientific and pedagogical direction studying in the educational programs 7M01502 “Biology”, 7M01503 “Chemistry”, 7M01503 “Physics” and 7M01701 “Foreign language: two foreign languages” of the Pedagogical Institute AIU from June 3 to June 20, 2024 undergo a scientific internship at the National Academy of Education named after Y. Altynsarin. 

The staff of the Higher School of Art and Design congratulates senior lecturer, Master of Art History Mukhamedieva Samal Konyrtaevna on awarding the departmental badge "Madeniyet uzdigi"!

By the decision of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Mukhamedieva S. K. was awarded for her worthy contribution to the development of the field of art and culture, active participation in improving the artistic process and innovative activities in the field of art.

And another event in the life of our colleague deserves sincere congratulations – on May 29 this year it became known that Samal Konyrtaevna was accepted to the doctoral program of the Xi'an Academy of Fine Arts (XAFA, China).

The defense of diploma projects is the main result of the five–year period of study of students in the specialty 6B02101 – Design. Between May 20-22, 2014, twenty–two graduates of the Higher School of Art and Design presented their theses to the State Attestation Commission. The work of the commission was headed by Candidate of Technical Sciences, Head of the Quality Management Department of the Kazakh National University of Arts Soltanbaeva Gulnar Shaimerdenovna.

The graduation papers of graduates of the Higher School of Art and Design are always distinguished by their original, creative approach. This year, our students also presented an extremely diverse range of topics for their design projects.

A number of student projects have an important socio-cultural orientation, for example, "Transformation of the subject-spatial environment of the hostel into a student dormitory in Astana" (Eshmurat P.), "Visual concept of the speech correction center "Rechevita" (Murzatova A.), "Creation of the corporate identity of the cafe of Korean gastronomy "Hondae" (Chen Yu.), "Design-the concept of the architectural and landscape environment of the recreation area in the village of Zhibek Zholy", etc. The Commission highly appreciated the creative potential of the final qualifying works "Development of the design project of the popular science magazine "Design in comics" (Tulkibai E.), "Development of the storyline and visual concept of the computer game "Pluton" (Fedotova A.), "Design concept of the visual world of the game "GALAM".

At the end of the defense procedure, the chairman of the state attestation commission Soltanbaeva G. Sh. gave a detailed description of each submitted project and wished our graduates to always follow the best design principles in everything – ergonomics, functionality, aesthetics.

On May 21, 2024, within the framework of the international project "The Art of Dialogue", organized under the auspices of the International Union of Art Educators, a colloquium was held on the topic "Museums and art communities: the experience of interaction and integration". The project was organized by the corporate foundation "Museum of the First President" in collaboration with the Nevsky Palette Housing and Communal Services, the Russian House in Astana, the Children's Art School (UNESCO Club) of Astana, the Kazakh National University of Arts and the Higher School of Art and Design of Astana International University.

The speakers who took part in the colloquium discussed the possibilities of international communication and technologies of cooperation in the field of art education, various aspects of the competition and exhibition activities of the International Union of Artists and Teachers. The Higher School of Art and Design of the AIU was represented by art historian, PhD, Associate Professor G. N. Povalyashko with a report "Current museum practices and cultural mediation".

The work of the colloquium ended with the admission of new members to the International Union of Artists. Certificates of this status organization were received by Deputy dean of the HSE Daumenova Ella Talgatovna, senior teachers Mukhamedieva Samal Konyrtaevna and Shaimerden Srim Sakenuly, associate professor Galina Nikolaevna Povalyashko.

The «Білімнің жұлдызы» scholarship has been organized by the «Dauletten» Foundation since 2019 to support educated and talented youth. The 200 best students received a one-time scholarship in the amount of 100 000 tenge. The scholarship is awarded to encourage talented and outstanding students who are active in their studies, science and social life. On May 30-31, 2024, a student of the EP «Finance» group, Akimbek Nurikamal, became the winner of the «Білімнің жұлдызы – 2024» competition at the I Republican Youth Forum.

In April - May 2024, the teaching staff of the Higher School of Economics conducted career guidance work in 23 schools in Astana.

As part of career guidance work, teachers told schoolchildren about the university, educational programs, educational grants, the provision of dormitories, discounts for education, the cost of education, the availability of double degree programs and academic mobility programs in partner universities (China, European countries, Russia, etc.).

Presentations and videos about the university were presented at schools, and booklets were issued. Teachers also answered questions from schoolchildren and their parents. We are waiting for school graduates of 2024 at Astana International University.

The traditional Republican Student Subject Olympiad in all areas of design is timed to coincide with Science Week in Kazakhstan. This event is part of an extensive annual program of subject Olympiads, in which students from all universities participate. The best students of the Higher School of Art and Design once again successfully took part in it.

All competitive tests took place on April 20-22, 2024 at the Kazakh Head Academy of Architecture and Civil Engineering and the Kazakh National Academy of Arts named after Temirbek Zhurgenov (Almaty). Our students took part in five nominations: “Architectural Design”, “Design of Architectural Design Objects”, “Elements and Processes of Industrial Design”, “Design of Graphic Design Objects”, “Elements and Processes of Graphic Design”.  And in all five nominations they showed a decent level and were among the top three winners:

Khalelova Bayan – III place in the nomination “Design of architectural design objects” (scientific supervisors: candidate of architecture, associate professor Kiseleva T. A. and candidate of technical sciences Fendt Yu. B.);

Oral Tomiris – 2nd place in the nomination “Elements and processes of production design” (scientific supervisors: candidate of architecture, associate professor Kiseleva T. A. and master Daumenova E. T.);

Kuandykova Dinara - II place in the nomination “Elements and processes of graphic design” and II place of the Union of Designers of the Republic of Kazakhstan (scientific supervisor master Imangalieva G.A.).

A certificate of participation in the nomination “Architectural Design” was received by Ergalieva Dilnaz (scientific supervisors: candidate of architecture, associate professor Kiseleva T. A. and candidate of technical sciences Fendt Yu. B.). The high level of the competitive work presented by Dilnaz was also confirmed by the architect Arsen Bashikhtenov, who presented our student with a special diploma on behalf of tarkett.kz - the Kazakh representative office of the world leader in the production and sale of floor coverings for public spaces.

We sincerely congratulate our students and their scientific supervisors: Kiseleva T.A., Fendt Yu.B., Daumenova E.T., Imangalieva G.A. as well as the senior teacher Mukhamedieva S.K., who accompanied our participants to KazNAI, with wonderful victories!

The work of the International Scientific and Practical Conference "AIU-2024: Synergy of education, science and artificial intelligence: from idea to practice" contained events in various formats. The Higher School of Art and Design initiated a round table on the topic "Professional design environment: from theory to practice".

Representatives of the professional design community of Astana (Bayandin A., Mukhamedzhanov B., Baisengirov Zh., Alipova M., Omarbayev G.), leading teachers of the Higher School of Art and Design and the AIU Pedagogical College (Kovalev D. A., Bikmukhanova D., Malysheva A. P.) were invited to discuss topical issues of the optimal content of the educational process and its practical implementation, as well as students.

The discussion was substantive and constructive. Problem areas and ways to solve them are outlined in an online presentation by Amirgazin K. Zh. (PhD, Vice-rector for Research at Omsk State University). He emphasized the richness of the traditional culture of any nation, pointed to the material heritage of the Kazakh people as the basis for the development of creative thinking of designers. Bayandin A. (artist, member of the Union of Designers of the Republic of Kazakhstan) gave a description of the most effective means of forming practical skills among students of creative specialties. Mukhamedzhanov B. A. (sculptor, associate professor KazNUI) pointed out the importance of state support for creative professional activity, pointed out the lack of clearly articulated support for the creative environment in the regulatory and legislative acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan. B. E. Ospanov (Professor VSHID AIU) pointed out the flaws of the Bologna system, which is insufficiently adapted for creative specialties, which is the reason for certain problems of practical preparation of students for independent professional activity. Alipova M. (member of the Union of Artisans of the Republic of Kazakhstan) stressed the importance of traditional forms of decorative and applied art for the development of modern forms of design thinking. Khorovetskaya E. M. (Associate Professor of the AIU) outlined in detail the range of problems of one-sided orientation of educational programs "Design", "Architecture", "Industrial and Civil Engineering", which need to be integrated with each other to form a widely practicing educated specialist.

Following the results of the round tables, a resolution was developed.

1 Consider the work of the round table "Professional design environment: from theory to practice" relevant and promising in the direction of improving the educational process focused on the formation of effective production skills of graduates studying in a group of related (creative) educational programs.

2 To consider the possibilities of systematic work in the format of a round table of experts on the entire spectrum of art, design, architecture.

3 To initiate participation in the round tables of representatives of legislative republican bodies in order to solve professional and educational tasks for the formation of a creative creative environment among graduates of higher and secondary technical educational institutions.

The main scientific event of the academic year for students, undergraduates, doctoral students and teachers of the Higher School of Art and Design is participation in the University International Scientific and Practical Conference. The thematic focus of this year's scientific forum is formulated in accordance with the challenges of our time - "AIU-2024: Synergy of education, science and artificial intelligence: from idea to practice". The main purpose of the conference is to activate the scientific and creative activities of teaching staff and students of all levels and to contribute to solving the urgent problems of modern Kazakh society.

In the period from April 22 to April 25 this year, the staff of teachers, students and undergraduates of the Higher School of Economics actively participated in various program events. The main results of the research work of teachers and students of the Higher School of Economics, AIU Pedagogical College, Toraigyrov University (Pavlodar), Kazakh National University of Arts were summed up during the work of the section "Creative Industry: design, art, architecture". Professor Liu Wang Bing from Guangdong University of Technology (China) addressed the participants of the breakout session with a video greeting.

45 people participated in the work of the section (speakers, students, teaching staff). 33 applications were submitted (offline - 15 people, online - 18 people). The best presentations were made by 12 participants.

Following the results of the reports and speeches, the teaching staff of the HSE and the PCC "Music Education" of the AIU Pedagogical College made an agreed decision on the distribution of prizes among the participants as follows:
