Triumph of the "Esil" Team: AIU Historians Among the Top Three at the Republican Olympiad!

On April 17, 2026, the L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University (ENU) hosted the 18th

Republican Student Subject Olympiad in the educational program 6B02203 – “History,” among

students of higher education institutions of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The event was dedicated

to the 30th anniversary of the university and was held under the theme «Historical Heritage and

Biographical Studies in the Exploration of National History».

The aim of the Olympiad was to foster students’ cognitive, research, and creative activity, to

develop their intellectual potential, and to support gifted participants.

The Olympiad was conducted in both team and individual standings and consisted of three

rounds. The first round was an introduction, the second round involved the defense of a research

project on the theme “Historical Heritage and Biographical Studies in the Exploration of

National History,” and the third round was the captains’ competition, “History Quiz.” In this

round, team leaders were required to demonstrate their level of preparation, knowledge, and

communication skills.

A total of 14 teams from 14 higher education institutions took part in the Olympiad. The

“Esil” team from Astana International University, consisting of Kels N.A. – “History (Science)-

24 A” (2nd year); Raimbek B.A. – “History (Science)-23 B” (3rd year, team captain);

Tursunuly B. – “History (Science)-25 A” (1st year); Zhunisbek S.D. – “History (Science)-25

A” (1st year), demonstrated a high level of knowledge and was awarded 3rd place. The team

supervisor was Professor Kanat Saduakasovich Oskembayev, Candidate of Historical Sciences,

of the Higher School of Arts and Humanities.

According to the results of the Olympiad, our winners were awarded a diploma for 3rd place

and special certificates. We congratulate our students on their well-deserved victory and

wish them every success in their future academic endeavors!
