CAREER GUIDANCE WORK

AT THE HIGHER SCHOOL OF ECONOMICS

At the Higher School of Economics (HSE), both traditional career guidance methods and modern approaches are used within educational programs (EP), tailored to the specifics of different fields and students' needs.

Career guidance work is carried out in two directions:

Ø “School students”

Ø “Undergraduates, master's students, and doctoral students”

Types of Activities:

1.              Career consultations and master classes. HSE provides individual consultations for both 9th-11th grade school students and university students on career path selection.

2.              Master classes with experts. Master classes are held in various fields such as marketing, finance, economics, and others. Students have the opportunity to receive practical advice and learn about industry requirements and trends.

3.              Educational program fairs (for school students) and job fairs (for graduates). These events provide an opportunity to learn more and enhance one’s competitiveness.

4.              Training sessions and seminars. Training sessions are conducted to develop key professional skills, such as time management, teamwork, negotiation, and leadership. HSE actively uses innovative teaching methods, including role-playing games and case study methods, allowing students not only to master theory but also to apply knowledge in practical situations. These training sessions are aimed at developing skills highly valued by employers, helping students confidently build their careers.

5.              Project work, internships, and traineeships. A key feature of the educational programs is the integration of career guidance into the learning process through project work and participation in internships. School students and university students can work on real projects related to the needs of businesses or the public sector.

6.              Career days and meetings with alumni. HSE organizes career days and student meetings with alumni working in various fields of economics and business. During such events, alumni share their personal success stories, provide practical advice, and help students better understand career opportunities. They also demonstrate how the theoretical knowledge gained at the university is applied in practice.
