On 13 February 2026, A.S. Irzhanov, Candidate of Legal Sciences and
Research Fellow of the project “AP26100031 – International Mediation Hub as an
Instrument for Peaceful Conflict Resolution and Nuclear Disarmament: Experience
of Kazakhstan and Foreign Countries” at Astana International University, held a
working meeting with practicing mediators of “Tatulasu Ortalygy” (Reconciliation
Center).
During the meeting, a substantive exchange of views took place on current
issues related to the development of international mediation. Particular attention was
given to the regulatory framework governing international mediation in the
legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as to the analysis of national law
enforcement practice.
The participants discussed existing gaps and inconsistencies in legal regulation,
issues concerning the improvement of mediation activities, and the prospects for
incorporating advanced international best practices. In addition, the mediators
presented specific proposals aimed at improving the legislation of the Republic of
Kazakhstan in the field of mediation and strengthening measures to promote
mediation as an alternative dispute resolution mechanism.
Overall, the meeting was constructive and contributed to strengthening
professional cooperation between the academic community and practicing
specialists.
