The Higher School of Arts and Design was founded in 2018 and is one of the seven schools of the Astana International University (AIU - Astana International University). The university successfully passed the initial institutional accreditation in 2018. Despite its youth, the school gathered the elite of culture and art of Kazakhstan.

The higher school employs experienced teachers with extensive experience in scientific and teaching activities, famous artists and honored artists of the Republic of Kazakhstan:

- 1 PhD;
- 2 candidates of pedagogical sciences;
- 1 candidate of technical sciences
- 3 candidates of architecture;
- 1 candidate of philosophical sciences;
- 1 holder of the Order of “Kurmet”;
- 7 masters;
- 5 senior teachers.

The teachers of the Higher School of Arts and Design carry out educational and methodological work, applying innovative teaching methods. They take an active part in scientific and practical conferences, publish scientific articles, participate in scientific projects, programs, examinations, organize and take part in creative exhibitions of various levels.
The school implements educational programs 6B02101 “Design”, 6B02105 “Graphic Design”, 6B02106 “Architectural Design”, 6B02104 “Web Design”, 6B02102 “Design (Technical and Vocational Education)” for bachelor’s degrees and 7М02101 “Design” for master’s degrees in Kazakh, Russian and English languages.
Training under the "Design" program at the International University of Astana is carried out along the popular creative paths today: Architectural and interior design, Graphic design, Web-Design.
Upon completion of training, designers have the opportunity to find a job in design companies, in architectural institutions, publishing houses, in printing enterprises, printing houses, in design bureaus, design studios, in art-industrial workshops, in furniture salons, in creative design teams of enterprises and organizations, and also open our own design firm, which is successfully done every year by our graduates.
The standard duration of study for a bachelor's degree is 5 years in full-time education. The Master's degree in the educational program "Design" is carried out in two directions: 5 (2 years of study) and profile (1, 1.5 years of study).
For undergraduate students, there is an opportunity to participate in the academic mobility program, according to which students can undergo semester studies at foreign partner universities: Aachen University of Applied Sciences (Germany, Aachen), National Institute of Design (Russia, Moscow)
And for graduate students, there is a mandatory 10-day internship abroad at a partner university.
Among the advantages of studying in this specialty is a variety of practical classes in the workshops of artists, jewelers.

MUSEUM OF DECORATIVE AND APPLIED ARTS
The Museum of the East is not only a large exhibition complex, but also a research institution. In the museum, on the basis of research departments, scientific work is carried out on a comprehensive study of the artistic heritage, the current state and prospects for the development of art and culture of the peoples of the East; organizes and conducts scientific conferences and seminars, lectures and creative messages at which orientalists, art historians, historians and archaeologists speak.
The museum is actively replenishing its collections, as well as conducting active educational activities. At the lectures at the Museum of the East, visitors get acquainted with the basics of oriental studies, art history, archeology, study the ethnography of the peoples of the East.
The Museum has a large collection of numismatics, historical maps of the East, a scientific library, in the funds of which rare, and sometimes the only publications on oriental art in Kazakhstan are kept.
The museum collection began with works donated by Russian masters. The collection contains about 100 items. Interesting examples of horse harness, national felt and woven carpets: syrmaks, tekemets, alasha carpets, made by both folk and modern craftsmen. The Kazakh jewelry art of folk craftsmen is widely presented in this section. The same section contains the works of Kazakhstani masters: Sekenov Shalkar, Berik Alibay, Nurdambek Bekbolat.
