AIU Hosts Screening of Portuguese Feature Film “AMADEO”

On 5 November, Astana International University, in cooperation with the Embassy of the Portuguese Republic in Kazakhstan, hosted a screening of the feature film AMADEO.

The screening was attended by an Embassy delegation led by José Ataíde Amaral, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Portuguese Republic to the Republic of Kazakhstan. The delegation also included Deputy Head of Mission Nuno Almeida and Assistant to the Ambassador Aigerim Kassylova.

Directed by Vicente Alves do Ó, the historical biographical film explores the life and work of Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso, an outstanding Portuguese artist and representative of modernism and avant-garde art.

During the screening, the audience was introduced to the world of early 20th-century European art. The film portrays the artist’s creative journey, his life in Paris, and his connections with prominent figures such as Pablo Picasso and Amedeo Modigliani.

The screening of AMADEO gave students an opportunity to learn more about Portuguese culture and the history of its visual arts. The Portuguese Ambassador’s visit marked an important step in developing academic and cultural ties between Astana International University and the Portuguese Republic.
