AIU Discusses Prospects for Artificial Intelligence Development in Kazakhstan and Central Asia

On 2 November, the CFive intellectual platform at Astana International University held an expert dialogue focused on Kazakhstan’s strategic opportunities in artificial intelligence.
The event featured Zia Zaman, an expert in artificial intelligence, innovation and technological development. He previously served as General Manager at Microsoft, overseeing corporate business development, strategy and venture initiatives in the Asia-Pacific region.
The meeting was organised as part of CFive’s expert dialogue entitled “State Matters: Kazakhstan’s Strategic Choices in Artificial Intelligence, Computing Infrastructure and Energy”. The discussion was held under the Chatham House Rule, enabling participants to exchange views openly.
The meeting explored Kazakhstan’s potential to become a regional leader in artificial intelligence. Experts highlighted the country’s energy resources, geographical location and potential to develop computing infrastructure. They also discussed the measures needed to transform these advantages into long-term economic value.
Participants concluded that Kazakhstan’s future in artificial intelligence extends beyond attracting investment and developing computing infrastructure. Success in this area depends on building a national technology ecosystem, stimulating domestic demand and investing systematically in human capital.
The CFive intellectual platform will continue to hold expert dialogues on Kazakhstan’s strategic development, technological transformation and the economic resilience of Central Asia.
