AIU Delegation Participates in the SCO Digital Economy Forum 2026


















An AIU delegation comprising Vice-Rector K.A. Abdrakhmanov and Director of the SMTK Research Institute N.S. Irsaliyev participated in the 2026 SCO Digital Economy Forum, held in Urumqi, Xinjiang, on September 15–16.
During a panel session, K.A. Abdrakhmanov delivered a presentation entitled “The Digital Silk Road in the SCO Region: New Opportunities for Cooperation and Sustainable Development.” As part of the forum, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed with Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications.
This year’s forum was jointly organized by the National Data Administration of the People’s Republic of China and the People’s Government of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region. The opening ceremony brought together approximately 500 participants, including Chinese and foreign government officials, business leaders, and experts and scholars from higher education institutions and think tanks.
The forum focused on implementing the agreements reached at the 2026 Bishkek Summit to deepen cooperation in the digital economy within the SCO framework, strengthen policy coordination, and jointly establish long-term cooperation mechanisms. It also aimed to enhance infrastructure connectivity and promote the joint development of digital infrastructure.
