Opening of a branch of Beijing Language and Culture University in Astana

The morning of July 3 became a significant day for relations between Kazakhstan and China. The opening ceremony of the branch of Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU) took place in Akorda. This important event was attended by the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and the President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping. The historical connection between Beijing Language and Culture University and Kazakhstan also has personal significance. President Tokayev studied at BLCU 40 years ago. According to Serik Irsaliev, President of AIU, the creation of the BLCU branch is an important symbol of high-quality cooperation between Kazakhstan and China in the field of higher education and science. In the afternoon, the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Sayasat Nurbek and the Minister of Education of the People's Republic of China Huai Jinpeng arrived at the opening ceremony of the BLCU branch. The event was attended by representatives of diplomatic missions, the academic community and students. New modern classrooms were opened, equipped with advanced technologies for effective learning. The BLCU branch at AIU will become an important center for training highly qualified personnel for Kazakhstan and throughout Central Asia, providing students with unique opportunities to study the Chinese language and culture, in addition, the BLCU branch will be certified for knowledge of the Chinese language according to the international HSK (Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi) system. AIU President Serik Irsaliev gave a tour of the new BLCU offices and spoke about the activities of the university, the history of Kazakhstan and demonstrated unique artifacts that can only be seen at AIU. Sayasat Nurbek noted: “Today, during bilateral negotiations, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Kemelevich Tokayev emphasized that cooperation in the field of science and education between the two countries is strengthening.” The opening of the BLCU branch at AIU opens a new chapter in the development of international cooperation in the field of education and culture.
