On October 8, Astana International University hosted a masterclass entitled “The Harvard Negotiation Method: How to Close Million-Dollar Deals?” led by Dipanjan “DJ” Nag, an international expert in intellectual property, technology transfer, and venture investment, as well as a professor at Rutgers University. He explained the key principles of the Harvard negotiation method and discussed how parties can reach mutually beneficial decisions.
Participants were also introduced to BATNA, a key concept used in negotiations. In addition, they learned about the importance of identifying essential requirements and considering alternative options in advance.
The professor also focused on the key terms of technology deals. In particular, the session covered the use of intellectual property, market research, licensing, upfront payments, royalty rates, and product launch timelines.
The three-hour masterclass was designed to explain methods for commercializing scientific ideas, attracting investment in technology projects, and managing intellectual property effectively.
