The students were accompanied by lecturers T. D. Abzhakova and R. M. Utepova.
The “Sports Dictation” was broadcast live. The event was hosted by renowned sports commentator Dmitry Guberniev and Olympic champion Maria Kiseleva, the creator of the project. Approximately 1,500 venues across Russia and neighboring countries joined the online broadcast.
The Russian House in Astana welcomed several distinguished Russian athletes as honorary guests:
· Alexander Krasnykh, silver medalist in the 4 × 200-meter freestyle relay at the Tokyo Olympic Games;
· Gulnaz Khatuntseva, bronze medalist in the cycling madison event at the Tokyo Olympic Games;
· Olga Denshchikova, participant in the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi.
Participants answered 25 questions covering various sports, the history of sporting achievements, and the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The campaign was officially opened by Mikhail Degtyarev, Minister of Sport of the Russian Federation and President of the Russian Olympic Committee. He welcomed the participants and presented the first question of the dictation.
The subsequent questions were read by celebrated athletes and representatives of participating venues from Russian regions and neighboring countries. The nineteenth question was presented on behalf of the Russian House in Astana by Irek Khaydarovich Zinnurov, Head of the Representative Office of Rossotrudnichestvo in Kazakhstan.
After completing the dictation, AIU students had an opportunity to speak with the renowned athletes, ask questions, receive autographs, and take commemorative photographs. Participation in the campaign allowed the students to test their knowledge, broaden their horizons, and learn more about the history of elite sport.
