AIU Hosts Meeting with German Researchers

Today, Astana International University hosted a meeting with Professors Steffi Wiedemann and Matthias Kleinke from Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences in Germany.
The meeting aimed to introduce the research areas of the two universities, identify common research topics, and discuss opportunities for implementing joint scientific projects.
Steffi Wiedemann conducts research in animal husbandry, while Matthias Kleinke’s work covers environmental engineering, agricultural technologies, efficient resource use, and production systems.
The discussion focused on sustainable agricultural systems adapted to climate change. The participants addressed the efficient use of water resources, the conservation of soil and vegetation cover, and the improvement of the livestock feed base.
AIU researchers presented the AR26100353 national project, which focuses on the digitalization of soil erosion control practices. The project applies digital elevation models, geographic information systems, satellite data, and drone imaging technologies. The University’s capabilities in botanical, geobotanical, microbiological, and molecular biological research were also presented.
The researchers considered opportunities to organize joint workshops, research visits, and bilateral meetings under the German Research Foundation’s (DFG) Initiation of International Collaboration programme. They also discussed the structure of a future research proposal, its objectives, and the next stages of work.
The meeting creates opportunities for researchers from the two universities to establish common research areas and contribute to the development of climate-resilient agricultural systems.
