Interactive Meeting “Self-Regulation and Prevention of Addictive Behaviour”

On September 25, 2026, in accordance with the educational work plan of the Higher School of Natural Sciences, an interactive meeting entitled “Self-Regulation and Prevention of Addictive Behaviour” was held for students of the RGiT-25B group. The event was organized by Saltanat Amanzholovna Zhanabayeva, Senior Lecturer at the Higher School of Natural Sciences and Academic Advisor of the RGiT-25B group.
As part of the meeting, Botagoz Zhasulanovna Sanatova, a counselling psychologist from the AIU Psychological Service, was invited to conduct an interactive session aimed at increasing students’ awareness of the risks associated with addictive behaviour and developing conscious decision-making skills.
During the event, issues related to the prevention of gambling addiction were addressed, along with discussions of psychoactive substance (PAS) use, crisis situations, and suicidal behaviour. Particular attention was paid to recognizing the signs of addiction, developing self-regulation skills, taking responsibility for personal decisions, and understanding the importance of seeking help in a timely manner.
An important part of the meeting involved working with practical scenarios. Students from the RGiT-25B group actively participated in the discussion, expressed their opinions, commented on the proposed situations, and collaboratively explored possible behavioural responses in various life circumstances. The interactive format contributed to open dialogue, the development of critical thinking, and the formation of conscious decision-making skills.
The meeting was engaging, informative, and productive. Participants had the opportunity to expand their knowledge of the risks associated with addictive behaviour, discuss ways to respond safely to challenging situations, and understand the importance of seeking professional support.
The event contributes to fostering a responsible attitude towards personal health and well-being, developing a culture of mutual support, and strengthening preventive work among university students.
The event aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 3 (SDG 3), particularly the following targets:
· Target 3.4 — Promote mental health and well-being, including the prevention of premature mortality and attention to suicide risk.
· Target 3.5 — Strengthen the prevention and treatment of substance abuse, including narcotic drug use and the harmful use of alcohol.
The interactive meeting formed part of the educational work aimed at increasing students’ awareness, developing self-regulation skills, and fostering a conscious attitude towards personal health and life choices.
