AIU Entered the Times Higher Education Sustainability Impact Rankings 2026

Astana International University (AIU) has been ranked among the world's universities featured in one of the most prestigious international rankings in the field of sustainable development — the Times Higher Education (THE) Sustainability Impact Rankings 2026.
The ranking assesses the contribution of universities to achieving the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including quality of education, gender equality, scientific research, international cooperation, environmental responsibility, and social impact.
In 2026, 1,603 universities from around the world participated in the ranking. Based on the evaluation results, Astana International University entered the 1001–1500 cohort, successfully presenting its results across all 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Key Results of AIU
The university achieved its highest positions in the following categories:
SDG 5 – Gender Equality: Ranked in the 201–300 cohort out of 1,095 universities worldwide;
SDG 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth: Ranked in the 401–600 cohort;
SDG 14 – Life Below Water: Ranked in the 401+ cohort;
SDG 4 – Quality Education: Ranked in the 601–800 cohort.
These results reflect the university's consistent efforts to develop inclusive education, ensure equal opportunities, support students, advance scientific research, foster international cooperation, and implement the principles of sustainable development.
International Recognition
AIU’s participation in the Times Higher Education Sustainability Impact Rankings confirms that the university's activities comply with international standards of sustainable development and marks an important milestone in the implementation of the University Development Strategy.
The achieved result demonstrates that AIU systematically integrates the principles of sustainable development into its educational, research, management, and social activities, and actively contributes to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
