Professor of the Higher School of Law of AIU Conducts Academic Visits to Leading European Universities to Advance International Research Collaboration

From 24 to 29 May 2026, Dr. Marat A. Alenov, Doctor of Law, Professor at the Higher School of Law of Astana International University and former Judge of the Republic of Kazakhstan, undertook an academic study visit to Maastricht University (the Kingdom of the Netherlands) and the University of Warsaw (the Republic of Poland).

The primary purpose of the visit was to strengthen international research cooperation, establish new academic partnerships, and explore opportunities for co-supervision of doctoral research projects conducted by PhD candidates of Astana International University. During a series of academic meetings, discussions focused on expanding institutional collaboration, developing joint research initiatives, promoting academic mobility for faculty members and doctoral students, and enhancing the quality of doctoral education in accordance with international standards.

As part of the visit to the University of Warsaw, Professor Alenov held a meeting with Dr. Jarosław Turłukowski, Professor at the Faculty of Law and Administration. The parties discussed prospects for involving international scholars in the supervision and academic mentoring of AIU doctoral candidates, implementing collaborative research projects, preparing joint publications in internationally peer-reviewed journals, and further strengthening academic and institutional cooperation between the two universities.

Professor Alenov also met with Astana International University doctoral candidates Fariza Abugaliyeva and Adil Akpan, who are currently engaged in research and academic activities abroad. The meeting focused on the progress of their doctoral research, publication strategies, future directions of their dissertation projects, and opportunities for integrating their research outcomes into the international academic community.

The outcomes of these meetings and negotiations contribute to the internationalization of Astana International University’s research activities, the expansion of academic partnerships with leading European universities, and the further development of international cooperation in doctoral education and legal research.
